Odd Xbox Communicator behavior

I picked up Black Arrow this afternoon and took it online. Everybody was complaining of an odd noise coming from me and the inability to understand what I was saying.

 

To test it out I tried recording a voice message to a friend and listened to it. Sure enough it sounds like a bad ground and my voice is very faint. I tried my other controller and a different game (Carve) to try and narrow it down, but to no avail.

 

Do I have a bad communicator all of the sudden, or is there another problem? Any help or links to resources would be greatly appreciated.

 

EDIT: Perhaps it was a one-time problem. I just got done playing with Allen and Jeff and there was no buzzing. I'll have to keep an ear out for it in the future.
