Bruce B
Looking forward to another season of Survivor, cant get enough. Was scanning the new cast and was wondering was there always 18 castaways? I thought there were usually 16. Check out Dolly the Sheep farmer!!! edited by FreakTornado for spelling in topic title
Whooter
Wow, they seem to be Chock Full O' Hotties this season. :tu: Yes, it is usually 16 survivors, but when they did All-Stars they switched to 18 to make three good-sized teams. They must be doing the same thing this time around... Is Ami the first openly lesbian Survivor on the show?
Bruce B
Just by looking at her "Scout" is already getting on my nerves. Please vote her off first. Dolly has got the Ellie Mae Clampett thing going on.

I heard this too, but knowing how they love to change things up each time, they may find a way to combine the two, like 3 teams, one all men, one all women and one mixed. Failsafe
Tonight's the night! :tu: Really looking forward to the male vs. female dynamic. CBS is doing a live webcast today and tomorrow (with the first castaway). Jeff, Rich and a moderator (I think) are taking phone calls. Carlucci
I'm there! After tonight, let's all name our pick to win it all just based on initial impressions. Carlos.
MrMike
Here is a chicago tribune article about the doctor in charge of care on the survivor "set". http://www.chicagotribune.com/features/lif...eisuretempo-hed Interesting stuff. Whooter
I'm rooting for Leann. :tu:
Beer Monkey
I wish they'd recruit more good looking women with real breasts. Brady is my male pick to win, Leann is my female pick.
Carlucci
You know, I really don't mind the hype they give the show in the previews, but at least have the reality come a little close to the massive expectations you build. The previews made you think the induction ritual was going to be so shocking, but the only thing they did that was even remotely close (for some people) was to slaughter a pig. Yawn. Having said that, I'll be back next week. Something cool is supposed to happen. My pick to win it all: Julie Carlos.
rustyjaw
It's hard to pick, I can barely remember half their names. But my rule-of-thumb is that it's usually someone who doesn't stand out, someone who is fairly quiet and reserved, someone who doesn't get noticed that wins the game. There are exceptions, but many winners have this quality. I'm glad I didn't see any previews, I thought the ritual was pretty cool, certainly gives you an idea of what life for women is/was like in most tribal societies. In fact, I'd wager that normally women aren't present at all. I was surprised that they gave the men Kava, which is a mild hallucinogen. I once watched a show hosted by Oliver Sacks about a population of color-blind people in the pacific islands, on the show he drank some Kava and tripped out. TK421
I say it's too early to tell. And almost too early to hate anyone. Eliza was hot until she started talking (and never stopped). -sigh- In fact I found this to be kind of an unappealing group. I guess I was spolied by last seasons All-Stars. I assume that will change as the next few episodes are shown and the alliances form and back stabbing starts.
TK421
My condolences to those who liked Dolly so much. I kind of saw this coming. Anyone who has ever watched survivor can say with some certainty that if you want to cut your throat in this game just tell someone that you don't know how your going to vote. The wishy-washy approach just doesn't work. I thought the award challenge that gave the women some of the comforts of home (hammock, pillows and blankets) was a little unfair. For the second challenge in a row balancing on a narrow beam was the key. Call me a sexist, but I think most women have better overall balance than men. The guys were doomed from the start. They did come back to win immunity and eventually the sheep farmer was sent back to the farm.
Failsafe
I was going to post with dismay that some of the finer eye-candy is now gone.
Mark E
I never thought I'd say this, but Survivor is boring the crap out of me this year. I don't find anybody likable or even memorable thus far and what's been going on to this point has felt incredibly banal. They added an extra person to each side and I would suggest that that was completely unnecessary. Also, the whole gender thing worked well once but I don't know that it was so great it needed to make a comeback. I'll probably still watch it, but The Apprentice is slowly becoming my Thursday night must-see reality fix.
rustyjaw
I think we were a bit spoiled by last season, where from the very first show it was all personalities that you were familiar with. IIRC, most survivor seasons have a period around the 2nd and 3rd show where you don't know enough about the people to get involved in the interpersonal reactions, but the excitement of the first show is gone. That said, some seasons do end up being better than others, and I think the last two (All-stars and the one with Johnny Fairplay, Rupert and the "outcasts") were both exceptional...only time will tell if this one measures up. rustyjaw
Last night's show was very good. The 'immunity' twist was excellent, and really showed how smart John K is. The way he divided up the girls when he arrived was a great idea. And for once, the person that I most wanted to get voted out (Mia) got her ass canned. TK421
This was probably the best episode yet. I like to see the guys pulling it together to win some of these challenges. I wish I could say I can't believe how catty (Hiissss) the women are getting. But we all expect this a little. Am I right? As I said beofre Eliza would be a lot more attractive if she just shut her month for like... 5 seconds. Glad to see Mia go, but I think Twila is just as deserving of the boot, just for the attitude she brings to the table. The men may be hurting themselves a little by taking out the strongest physical players. I guess time will tell.
Graeme
As I said beofre Eliza would be a lot more attractive if she just shut her month for like... 5 seconds. I just zone out a bit an concentrate on the only two reasons for me to want her on the show.

TK421
Anyone want to take a stab at who'll be going tonight? I fear if the women lose again ELiza and her mouth maybe gone  . As for the men Rory has the big target on this back.
Calvin
Still a fan & still watching this series! I think Rory is gone next. Could be Sarge too, though that would be a mistake...
rustyjaw
Pretty good episode last night. After rooting for the older guys most of the time, I was actualy pulling for Brady last night. I hate to see the game get too unbalanced. But it won' be long until the big alliance will break apart because they have no more opposition (what is it now, 5 against 2?). The tribesman who came to visit the women was amazing, the way he wielded the machete(!), the way he walked up that tree. How cool.
