blackcalx
I was looking for release information on Xbox's Tron 2.0: Killer App when I happened upon this: Tron 2.0: Killer App for GBA The screenshots don't seem to be anything special, but what surprised me was that it includes the original Tron arcade games, Disc of Tron seemingly included from one of the screens provided. This one completely took me by surprise. I'll have to keep an eye on the reviews to see if it's worth picking up.
Mark E
WHAT!? Home port of Discs of Tron!!? :wtf: Mine mine mine-mine....
General Zot
Boy, that's a great easter egg. If the 2.0 game sucks, you can always fall back on good ol' discs of tron. I used to play discs of tron at the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk for hours growing up. Tron, pinball, and the scammer game where you shoot the star with a BB machine gun. I think they still have discs of tron there, I miss the boardwalk...
blackcalx
I have to wonder how well Discs of Tron will play on the GBA. I can't imagine how the dual-axis paddle wheel will map to the buttons on the portable.
Zathras
Only thing i could think would be shoulder buttons would aim... I gotta fix my Tron joystick....
Mark E
Wait, are we thinking of the same game? I thought the old Discs of Tron game was just a basic joystick control? KLOV Entry Man, that would explain why my ass got kicked all the time when I was a kid if there was a whole joystick I wasn't using... :lmfao:
blackcalx
I can't get to that link here at work but I remember Discs of Tron being a spinner and a joystock. The spinner determined where the disc was thrown while the joystick controlled Tron's movement, firing and defense (a little electric beam that rebounded incoming discs). I seem to remember that the spinner also went up and down to control the vertical placement of the disc, but I could be thinking of something else. Mark E
Well, Zathras has the same basic intuition and I played the damn thing when I was like... five or six... so my memory is probably off. I remember the movement, the firing with the trigger, and that little beam he held between his hands for disc deflection (loooved that) but not the spinner. Hmm, there does look to be a spinner in the left side of the cabinet, though it's hard to see. Damn, old age is a bitch .
