JFo
I wouldn't have believed it if you told me about it, but here it is: http://wcco.com/entertainment/Film-ClerksS...urces_news_html ``It's about what happens when that lazy, 20-something malaise lasts into your 30s. Those dudes are kind of still mired, not in that same exact situation, but in a place where it's time to actually grow up and do something more than just sit around and dissect pop culture and talk about sex,'' Smith said during an interview at his Hollywood office. ``It's: What happened to these dudes?'' Smith says in the article that working on the forthcoming 3-disc DVD set of Clerks (due September 7) inspired him to making a sequel. And yes, Jason Mewes is going to return to his defining role as Jay as well as Brian O'Halloran and Jeff Anderson as Dante and Randall, respectively. Though the article doesn't say it, I'm sure Smith will also return to his role as Lunch Box... er, I mean Silent Bob. I must admit that I'm somewhat skeptical about this. I thought Smith had done all he wanted to do with these characters and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was their grand send-off. It's kind of disappointing to see him fall back into the groove since I would like to see him expand himself as a filmmaker. Jersey Girl was a good start, but I wonder if its poor reception at the box office deterred him from doing something outside of the New Jersey Trilogy. Still, if it's funny and good, I won't complain. After all, this is Clerks we're talking about here. Let's just hope Randall hasn't run out of his unique observations regarding the holy Star Wars Trilogy.
JFo
By the way, I do realize it's "Jay and Silent Bob" and not "Jan and Silent Bob" as the sub-heading for this topic would suggest. Of course we could always be in for a surprise of Darth-Vader-is-your-father proportions :green:
JoeyN
Actually kevin smith recently pulled out of directing Green hornet because he thinks he should not be a allowed to direct a big budget film ever again. Jersey girl didnt do that great so he wants to stay with smaller budget movies capt
Angry the Clown
I'm not overly happy about this. Smith's lack of confidence in his own abilities as a filmmaker continues to upset me. Whilst I don't think he's doing this to make a quick buck, I do think it is a shame for him to revert to a pretty much guaranteed safe zone in his work, especially after he was so adamant he was leaving the 'Askewniverse' characters behind him for good when it came to their celluloid exploits. Failsafe
Too funny! I just hope they can recapture the feeling of the first Clerks, which it sounds like they're very conscious about doing. I agree it is unfortunate that Smith is not confident in himself. If it starts shooting in January, can we expect a release by summertime? adamsappel
I think it's a good thing Kevin Smith has (finally) realized he has limitations as a director. Would you have wanted to watch a superhero movie where the camera never moves?

So Jeff is that form the same source as the Star wars 7 8 and 9 rumor? and beside didn't Dante get shot and the end of Clerks? Mark E
This would be better if it was the animated Clerks feature that has been promised for some time now, honestly.

JFo
A new Internet only trailer is up for all to enjoy: Download it here.
dogbert
I've seen the scene with Jay dancing by the fast food place & the full Star Wars vs LotR sequence. Silence of the Lambs impression is good, but not the usual Hannibal character
The Daisy
Well, that trailer looks much better than the last one. I'll give it a go... just for the sake of how much I loved the first one. Glen
Rainmaykr
I think it's a good thing Kevin Smith has (finally) realized he has limitations as a director. Would you have wanted to watch a superhero movie where the camera never moves? There was this one scene in Mallrats where the camera moved a little bit... The Daisy
I heard that he honed his directorial skills in Jersey Girl. I heard that from the one person that saw it. Glen

Calvin
The 1st film is one of my all time faves. I even stopped at the Quick Stop in Jersey on the way back from the 1st RSG. I'll be seeing this opening day

MastaRedSnappa
That trailer has me excited about Clerks 2 now. It's kind of weird seeing those characters in a relatively big budget (color) movie, almost like watching a movie adaptation of an old TV show or something. Graeme
I'm the one person that not only saw all of Jersey Girl, but LIKED it.
GreenMonkey
Work firewall stops me from seeing the trailer Have to wait 'till I get home. Kevin Smith is one of my top 5 directors. Clerks or Chasing Amy being my favorite of his movies. Although J&SBSB was pretty good.
