Camp
Picture: http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/09/03/sc...680.html?page=1 Story: http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/09/03/news_6106680.html Personally, I like the black & white buttons. I also don't have a problem with the current location of the Start & Back buttons. I do, however like the idea of additional shoulder triggers...as long as they don't cause my hand to cramp like the PS2 controller.
blackcalx
If that is truly the next controller I hope they add some polish to it. That model looks like a cheap $5.00 controller than I can pick up at Wal-Mart next to the Controller S.
rustyjaw
If it's real, it's probably a mockup/development model. It may be one of several layouts that they are testing...just a guess. It looks to me like there are two buttons along the front (above where the triggers hopefully still are), which would be a great addition, IMO. The article says 'four triggers' but those protrusions don't look like triggers, they look like buttons.
adamsappel
iirc, they aren't getting rid of the b&w buttons or making them analog, just moving them above the triggers. My Pelican wireless controller is like that and it makes a world of difference in games that use the b&w buttons for gameplay.
Beer Monkey
Somebody needs to make a controller where you can choose to toggle the white button...this would be invaluable for Halo 2 teamplay (bandwidth permitting). I'm sure a hack to add a switch to the controller wouldn't be too hard...
Derrik Draven
I wondered if we'd get shoulder buttons on the next round of controllers. Looks like that will be a reality, if that mockup is the real deal.
bickle
Me no likey. I want the black/white buttons. If triggers have been replaced by buttons, that's a huuuuuge mistake. Racing games would suck.

I can only assume that the two buttons are above each trigger, which I am all for (and, as Allen noted, there are 3rd party controllers with this configuration), I doubt that MS would get rid of the triggers altogether, they are just too useful. Calvin
I don't mind the extra shoulder buttons,as long as they do keep the triggers. Also, I WANT the two extra buttons!! It would be nice to have a bit bigger controller too - if anything, that mockup looks slightly smaller than the S.Which I don't want... It'd be nice if someone would make a classic controller...Put in a trackball & a paddle & I'd be really happy
The Daisy
a paddle All it would take is someone being able to setup one of the control sticks to rotate as well as depress. Glen
