Mark E
No saves/restarts to wipe away a bad shot. This will probably kill my chances, but what the hell, why not? I'm kinda surprised there isn't a way to generate a tourney code and then use it to record scores amongst your friends, sorta like the Target tourney. That would have been neat, like a little LCVG Classic. Anyway, I'm in, sounds like it could be fun. We ought to designate somebody like, oh, you Bryan , as tourney head and have people pm their scores to you so there's no urge to one-up the leaderboard. Then reveal the results after both courses and figure out the winner. I know we're all trustworthy chaps around here of course .
The Daisy
I'd be up for this as well. I have all of the star characters unlocked except for Bowzer. I just haven't had a chance to finish him off. I'm also only onto the 4th course as well. I just decided to go crazy with character unlocking and disregard the tournaments for a while. Mark E
What, hang on, how do you unlock the star characters then? I've been playing through all the tournaments to unlock them and haven't seen anything in the character matches that would let me unlock a star character... Three man tourney it looks like . If that's the case, lets unlock all the courses, get a star character of choice for ourselves, and play all seven in a mondo-tourney . Graeme
In the Character match ups, one of the characters should have an envelope on it, which is a challenge. If you beat that Character you get the star player. Koopa is first.
Mark E
Koopa is first. Thanks, I'll go snooping around that then. That works very well for me, as Koopa is my player of choice anyway.

Mark E
I opened up Koopa last night, actually, and have the six 18-hole courses unlocked, so I'm ready to go. Are we all using different characters? Should make it as close to 'being there' as possible . If there are conflicts we can turn to virtual paper-rock-scissors. On any other forum, I wouldn't even bother with this, but I have to say I'm looking forward to giving this a try here . You seem to have a good handle on this Bryan, so I'll leave it to you to hammer out the rules .

The Daisy
Ugh. I might need to get the last two courses unlocked before the tourney starts, but that shouldn't be too bad. I would think we should all use the same character on the same course. That's just me though. Glen
fishepa
Just out of curiousity, wouldn't the wind be different for everyone? That could actually play a big role depending on who get a good tail wind.
Mark E
I suppose we could. I mean, I assumed that the course would be the same, but we might want to pick our fave characters. There are going to be certain variables that we aren't able to account for as it is, such as wind and rain . Jury-rigging our own solution for tourney play is just gonna be 'as close to the real thing as we can make it'. I'm not particularly torn if people want to pick their own characters or we use the same, just saying. I don't terribly mind largely because Koopa isn't exactly a dynamite character to begin with, of course .

Rain could affect things as well, but I guess we could just write it off that each of us had a much different tee time. Mornings can sometimes be drastically different from the afternoon. Just a thought. Glen
Mark E
Given that it's a Mario Golf tourney, I think we can chalk it up to different tee times and let it ride. I mean, the only course with consistent winds is gonna be Bowser's, by which I mean consistently crap .

The Daisy
I'm going to take "star" Mario for my character. He can just crush the ball. Glen

Mark E
I like the excellent short game of Koopa Troopa myself . I don't need any extra handicapping honestly, but frankly I always pick Koopa Troopa when he's in a game, so I'm already bound to my star character . xPieter
I want to compete, but haven't unlocked Peach's Castle Grounds so I'll make that my project this weekend so I can enter the next challenge. Are we not allowed to pick the same character as another player? For example I can't pick Mario star since he's already taken? xPieter
Thanks for adjusting the courses Bryan. I'll use 'star' Diddy. Are we allowed to just play the heck out of the course and post the best score, or do we declare to ourselves before a certain round: "This tournament is going on the web!"? heavy liquid
Count me in too! I've only just started to unlock the courses, though... I'll use Waluigi. By the way, I was at EB in Toronto just before the game came out, and they were holding a putting contest in the store. The winner won an actual putter with the Mario Golf: TT logo engraved in the metal club! I believe he said there were only 300 made. -Erik

heavy liquid
My eBay sense is tingling . No doubt! I've looked for one out of curiosity a few times, but have never seen one listed.
