Light or Dark Forum Style?

  1. 1. Light or Dark Forum Style?

Recommended Posts

Well I am working on getting the prep work done for the next forum. I need to know which you guys would prefer so I can know which one to start developing.

Also if you would please give me some of your ideas/examples as to what you think make a good forum. Remember this is OUR place, that even includes you Monkey!

Thanks alot.

I will back up whats been said about the visibility of links. I've missed some in the past simply because of the similar colors.

I think you boys have the general idea down with regards to what works content wise, and what doesn't. The atmosphere here is very friendly and makes one want to stay around and contribute. I will be posting more, and hopefully others can benefit from my occasional post. The future seems pretty solid as far as I can see. Perhaps try and get a bit more info on the front page. It is just as important as the forums are.

I have learned a lot here, and do appreciate what you guys have set up and accomplished.

Regards,

Stacey

I'd like to see a screenshot example of the light background before I vote. Is that possible?

Generally, I think dark text on light backgrounds is much easier on the eyes but you guys have done a great job with these colors. Maybe somewhere in the middle...a lighter gray would work well?

I really like the dark look, it's much easier on the eyes. Like a lot of people I work on a computer all day, and it's a lot easer to stare at a darker screen than a bright one.

I also think it just looks sleeker and more refined.

The link color is an issue, it needs to be a touch more different from the regular text.

Personally, I prefer dark text on light background. I hear programmers say they like the dark background, but the truth is that dark text on light background is, in fact, easier to read for the general populace. It's been proven time and time again.

Some of the log in areas are still very light text on a white background. Mine is when I come to the site and click on the log in link. But if I just log in at the forum index page, it is dark text on light background. I like that better.

And I agree with what everyone said about the links. I have missed a lot of them and when I ask, it is pointed out and I have to admit a " D'oh! " as it should have been more obvious.

-Ok, so the text and backround coloring is just about a dead horse now,

-So what do I have to add, mmmm, how about being able to post at the bottom of a thread page, as opposed to opening a new window to reply. I'm always looking back to see what was said as I write replies. :?

While I don't really want either too dark or too light, I think an alternative color would look good. For a color idea, take a look at the forums over on ClubRSX.

But I'm easy to please... the color you choose isn't going to alter my enjoyment of the forum much and it sure won't keep me away.

Thanks for all of your hard work guys, and for asking for the peon's opinions too! :D

I like all the suggestions so far.

BTW, how do you know if you've replied to a thread or not? I haven't been at this board much, and.... Holy Shit that was a huge ass lightning bolt that just hit near my apartment complex. Me thinks me should turn off computer now.
