"Halo 2 will be a disappointment if?"

bandwidth issues prevent large rooms from running smoothly. I read that noone will ever know if their bandwidth is doing the hosting, but what happens when 16 people with so-so connections get together?

...dual-wielding turns a well-balanced shooting game into Unreal.

I think the recharging shield/health bar combo in the first game is balanced perfectly. The winner of a one-on-one fight is usually the guy who can aim, shoot, dodge, jump, and duck the quickest, not the guy who shoots first. But the demos I've looked at for Halo 2 seem to indicate that the absence of a secondary health bar and the addition of dual-wielding makes for much shorter firefights, with much more emphasis on seeing and shooting your opponent first. Fast deaths, fast respawns, frenetic action...like Unreal. That would be disappointing to me.

...if it's as genuinely repetative as the first one got toward the end.

It's really rather tough for FPS games to stay on form from beginning to end, and I know for a lot of people the last few levels of Halo began to get rather tiresome. I'm sure they will have a sublime online experience, but I want a good single player experience from this too.

I'm quite calm in my anticipation for Halo 2.

Thats honestly the MAIN thing that I'm reallly excited about when concerning Halo 2. I'm sure the online portion will be addictive and just fun as hell but when I frantically tear open that limited edition case its because I can't wait to see how the storyline pans out and what kind of kick ass stuff Bungie has done with the single player portion. The multiplayer is simply icing to me.

Now if the game had online co-op we'd be on a whole 'nother level of excitement here.

That's it for me, too.

We have so many "flavors of the month" type games

Thats everywhere Cal. Its what happens when you release so many online games so quickly. Doesn't leave enough time to savor the games that you have sitting on the shelf. ;) Remember back when Mechassault and Ghost Recon were *THE* games for months? How long before they were replaced by Wolfenstien? Then Rainbow Six? (which was the last game that I can see that continues to be played even now.).
