dogbert
Sega just announced a new title "Chaos Field", to be released in December for the good ol' Dreamcast It's a vertical shooter, Naomi technology, that looks very Layer Section-like. http://www.mile-stone.co.jp/eng/product/chaosfield_01.html And a GameCube version is coming later, but who cares about that - it's for the Dreamcast! Romier S
And a GameCube version is coming later, but who cares about that - it's for the Dreamcast! :lmfao: Yes Brians love of the Dreamcast is deep enough to completely remove the Gamecube out of memory (that is until Unity is released ). As far as the game itself...a shooter? Even moreso.....ITS FOR THE DREAMCAST! :tu: Money already spent.

Orpheus
Firing satisfaction is in the shot! Yay for new DC games. I'm in.
Romier S
Gamespot has some screenies (of the PS2 version). You can take a gander here: http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/chaosfi...creenindex.html
Romier S
New preview of Chaos Field over at Gamespot. No only is the game coming for the PS2 and Dreamcast but Sega will be releasing the game on the Gamecube as well! There is some information on the gameplay as well as expected arrival here: http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/chaosfi...ew_6108885.html While the game wasn't playable, we've had a chance to mess around with it a bit in arcades, and like what we've seen. The game draws on elements from other shooters to create its own unique hybrid style of play. You'll have a lock-on feature to take enemies and certain bullets out, as well as a Radiant Silvergun-style short-range energy field that will absorb certain bullets. The action plays out in top-down fashion, in the time-honored traditions of the shooting genre. Enemies and bullets will swarm like bees to honey and it will be up to you to destroy everything and avoid getting blown up. One look at the onscreen insanity and you'll realize why this game had us at "hello."
Romier S
Thought this thread deserved resurrecting as the game is in stock over at NCSX. I had all but forgotten about it but decided to take look around after putting in my order for the Vampire Chronicles release on the PS2 (and the Saturn pad). Lo and behold I ordered me up a copy! I will hear the Sega Swirl come alive once more. :tu http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi-bin/shop/T-47801M.html
Romier S
Anyone wanting some more shmup action on thier GC can look forward to the US release of Chaos Field. It's a nice compliment to Ikaruga on the system and for those punks that didn't spring for the DC release, here's your chance to get in on some fun shooting action. Here is the report from Gamespot: http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/08/15/news_6131042.html Santa Clara, California-based publisher O3 Entertainment has signed on to bring the Japanese space shooter Chaos Field to North America. The game, which hit stores in Japan at the end of last year, will see a GameCube-only release this holiday season.
Big Daddy Bling Bling
You never mentioned if the game is any good or not. I'm buying it anyways, even if only out of respect for the Chaos Field marketing team. Firing satisfaction is in the shot. Shoot, shoot, shoot like crazy!! dogbert
It's definitely not the most highly regarded Dreamcast shooter, Big Daddy.
Romier S
Yep. It's decent, but not at the level of a Psyvariar, Ikaruga, or Mars Matrix.
Big Daddy Bling Bling
It is $19.99 at Gamestop now and supposedly discontinued. Now is the time to get it if you want it, most stores only got 1-2 copies. I bought one yesterday but I've been too busy with Kain: Defiance to open it. Romier S
Thanks for the heads up Bling. I was looking to pick up the Gamecube version as it is, and at 19.99 I'll put my order in. How you liking Defiance? I wrote up a review for it a good ways back. It's been a good long while since I've played it, but it hit the right buttons for me (mainly due to the story). I've always been a fan of the series. EDIT: Here's the review: http://www.lcvg.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1655&highlight=Legacy+Kain+Defiance
Big Daddy Bling Bling
Chaos Field didn't provide the amount of Firing Satisfaction I was hoping for. I thought it would be a good trashy shooter like Giga Wing 2, but it's more in the mediocre range. An entirely Boss Rush game like this needs some cool attack/shot patterns for the enemies, but Chaos Field just has random madness. It's interesting at least, but definately not an autobuy even at $20. The fact that it basically looks like a PS1 game running in high resolution doesn't help. Kain: Defiance is more complicated, I'll post about it in the other thread.
