I received my first issue yesterday. It was the October issue not November though. I do have a question. When I got mine yesterday there was no plastic wrap just the mag with the demo stuck inside. The demo disc could have easily fallen out or been swiped. Is this how they are always sent out?

Mine show up in plastic bags.

I always get the issue in a plastic bag, with the demo disc in it's own cardboard sleeve loose in the bag.

Maybe you received it that way because your subscription started after the mass mailing, and they sent along from their surplus.

Either that or your mailman is a gamer! 8)

I've had a chance to play the Outrun 2, Otogi 2, Area 51, & BloodRayne 2 demos. I liked all of them except for Outrun 2, to my surprise...as I am a big fan of racers. (just felt way too disconnected from the car or road. It lacked the feel of actually driving a car at all....too arcadey for me)

BloodRayne 2 was fun, Area 51 was a surprise as I haven't folowed the game at all, and Otogi 2 was as expected - minus some slowdown anyways. (or should I say plus some slowdown!) Hopefully it'll be worked out before the game's released, as one section of the demo in particular had a pretty slow framerate.

You lost me on that one. Boiling you say???

Yup, I had to do the same thing for the Chronicles of Riddick demo a few months back, and it worked

Just get yourself a pan, fill it half full, and let it cook :green: Once the water started boiling, I put the disk in for a minute or so, dried it of and it was good to go! YMMV

I would be interested to hear from anyone on what this actually does to the disk, just curious.

Right, I've had to do this on about 3 or 4 discs. Burnout 2 and a few OXM discs.

Follow LimeyYankee's instructions. Just make sure you tie a string (I used thread) through the center hole of the disc. Lower it into the boiling water making sure the disc is completely submerged, and doesn't touch the sides or bottom. Keep it in for about 15 seconds (I can't remember the exact length, but I think that's it. Maybe someone else can verify this). It may warp slightly a bit in the water, but will spring back when you take it out. Take it out and set it on a flat surface label down for a minute or two to let it cool down, and then wipe off excess water with a clean cotton cloth (don't use napkins).

I don't remember why it works either, but it does.
