GrumpyElf
Hey all, anyone watch "Lost" last night? I thought the presentation was fantastic, the HD looked really, really nice, and it could have been Evangeline (Kate) that really made it look so nice All in all, it looks like a good start to a new series. I can't get used to seeing Merry in there, he's simply a hobbit to me now, nothing more will work! Anyone catch it? Ideas on what is stalking them? T. dogbert
Loved it. Hope it doesn't turn into a "monster of the week" style show. I have no idea what's stalking them - I've avoided spoilers so far, but I'm guessing it's some kind of prehistoric style thing which might be a bit hackneyed... Carlucci
Wow, that was a fantastic start. I was breathless! I hope there is an encore presentation coming up so those who missed it can get a chance to check it out before episode 2. I guess it is some sort of Jurassic Park style Island they landed on. I think the guy said they were near Fiji, so maybe it is a Godzilla-like mutant created from Nuclear bomb testing in the area. Instant Season Pass on Tivo. :tu: Carlos. rustyjaw
Pretty cool. I was thinking Jurassic Park as well. I'll stick with this one to see where it goes.
Beer Monkey
I saw a screener of the first two 'hours' and I'm definitely interested in seeing more. FYI the first season is supposed to take place over forty days, with each episode after the pilot covering approximately two days.
Whooter
Kick. Fuckin'. Ass. :tu: :tu: Nice to see the Greg Grunwald cameo as well, since there won't be any Alias until January (unless Desperate Housewives tanks or something).... Evangeline is yummy. JoeyN
Excellent first episode. Wouldnt be a stranded on a Island without some sort of creature on the island to start . However the creator of the show has said its not going to be a monster of the week show. Its going to be more charector driven. From what i have read it was supposed to be a 2 hour premiere and ABC cut it in half because of the Bachelor. The 2nd hour is supposed to be really good. Cant wait capt
boogieman
Great show and it looked awesome in HD. Can't wait to see the 2nd part of the pilot (stupid bachelor show). I think next week they are playing both hours. I don't think it's gonna be a Monster of the week show and nor is it Jurrasic Park - that was in Costa Rica..ish . (I also read that somewhere) I'm trying hard to stay away from the spoilers, but I really want to know what's on the island. One thing I'm guessing is that they are not the first people to be stuck there. I don't think the dog came with them. Oh yea, what's his face was also there from Alias, the guy who showed Sydney what happened when she was Julia. He was also big in S2, but I can't remember his name. GrumpyElf
Boogie - Are you talking about Terry O'Quinn? Who was the FBI guy, Kendall in Alias? He's great. He was excellent as Peter Watts, in Millennium as well. This guy goes way back, I've seen him in tons of shit, and when I say shit I mean Earth
xPieter
I definitely enjoyed this one. Picture and sound were terrific, especially after the powers that be decided to flip the switch to HD after the first commercial break. Seeing 15 minutes of a show in SD and then having it switch to HD really brings home just how good the quality can be.
boogieman
Yea that's him...Kendall. So he has a real name, Terry O'Quinn? :lmfao: I'll have to remember that. Man I remember watching Earth2 back on NBC many years ago. I don't remember anybody who was in it though. Thanks Skinner
Beer Monkey
Yea that's him...Kendall. So he has a real name, Terry O'Quinn? He also played at least 3 or 4 different characters on X-Files and Millenium. Do not miss the second episode. The first two were really meant to be viewed together. The next ep really completes this one, and is even better IMO.
Jordan_E
Thought it was all right, but nothing that exciting. Probably watch the next episode, but unless we get more than "Oh my god, what was that?" I'll pass on the rest.
CaptainRon
I thought it was amazing. this is def a show that i'll keep tuning into. It has some pretty serious movie qualities for being a tv show. was pretty impressed all around.
JoeyN
Ratings are in and Lost won last night 18.7 million viewers with a Nielson rating of 6.8 which beat everything else. Biggest non franchise Drama launch since 1999. Lost also gained audience in the second half hour, adding 1.5 million viewers and the ratings increased that half hour by 16% Good start to the show. Hopefully word of mouth makes its bigger next week capt
GrumpyElf
Episode 2 - So far so good, they are adding so much back story now it's getting really intriguing. I have no clue as to what is going on, none. I can only relate to a Twilight Zone type show... lost in the Bermuda Triangle type thing. A polar bear? This has a lot to explain, and I can't wait to keep watching. Tom
JoeyN
Another good episode. The cast is excellent, the story is excellent, and they have so many possibilities on where to take the show. JJ Abrahms was right when he said that the show isnt so much about the island, as it is about the survivors of the plane crash themselves. Looking at next weeks preview it heats up even more For those who havent seen the first two episode, They are being played back to back on Saturday starting at 8. capt
Dan B.
For those who havent seen the first two episode, They are being played back to back on Saturday starting at 8.Thanks for the reminder. I missed both of 'em. Starting in November, I will have my local networks on DirecTV so I can Tivo them & not forget about it. (I don't even own a VCR anymore) I just finished Alias season 3 on DVD, so I am sort of a fan of JJ Abrams & look forward to something new. dogbert
The Bermuda Triangle is far too easy a copout, and also in the completely wrong ocean (Australia-Fiji is all Pacific).
rustyjaw
I missed this tonight. I did laundry in the early evening assuming it was on at 9, doh!
Carlucci
Wow, that bear really came out of nowhere. Literally. So they are leading us towards the conclusion that there is some sort of eccentric with his own managerie on this island, including the thing that killed the pilot. But that seems kind of obvious to me, so it's likely that will not be the actual explanation. The transmission they intercepted was very creepy. If it's been broadcasting for more than 16 years, there must be a power source somewhere, unless someone hooked up a Speak-n-Spell to some tree branches. Kate may be under extradition to the U.S., but she doesn't know how to use a gun, so I wonder what she is indicted for? The U.S. Marshall said he believed her on the plane. Was he being sarcastic? Carlos.
boogieman
The U.S. Marshall said he believed her on the plane. Was he being sarcastic? That's the way it sounded to me. Man a polar bear? That was strange. Even stranger was taking it out with nothing but a handgun. Anybody catch what kinda gun it was? Kate is yummy.... Nice twist with her being the convict. Wonder if she was just playing when she said she didn't know how to work the gun. You know, to keep up the charade. That other transmission was creepy. I wonder how they would set something like that up? Maybe they're on Gilligan's Island... :bang: I hope the annoying sister gets killed next... Jordan_E
I have to admit I enjoyed the 2nd episode more than the first, and it looks like they should have kept it a 2 hour pilot rather than cutting it into 2 parts, as I almost gave up on it after the first; it was like only watching the first hour of a movie. I really hope they don't fall into some pat resolution for the weird stuff happening, sort the way the X Files aways explained away anything else but UFOs. And as far as 'the Bermuda Triangle" angle, there are plenty of other "triangles" around the world (being a writer of the "weird," I've done plenty of research on various such things). Maybe JJ has watched as much Travel Channel and the History Channel as I have.
