CaptainRon
The two trailers had sold me, but this was ridiculous http://downloads.nexcess.net/tawpclip.mov i think kim jong il might be related to cartman
Starhawk
OMG, this looks great! I'm there opening day for sure.
Angry the Clown
I like the second trailer quite a bit, mostly for showing how absolutely exquisite the model work is. The trailer has a wonderful shot of a limo going through New York at night which I think is just beautiful. Any idea how that scene got leaked? Parker is doing the EXACT same voice he does for the City Wok guy in South Park. Pissing myself laughing that they've worked in Cartman's "breaking my balls" into that clip as well though. JFo
Click here for a good interview with Trey and Matt about the creation of the film as well as their new-found "adoration" of puppets. The first half deals with Team America; the second delves a bit into the process of creating South Park. Fans of the show should find it to be a good read. Starhawk
Has working on ?Team America? given you new respect for Gerry Anderson (Thunderbirds creator)?TREY: Absolutely. I mean, actually, it doesn?t give me any respect for him ? it makes me think he?s absolutely insane. How you could do this and do it again, I do not understand. He did it for years and years and years ? and I don?t understand how. I mean, you could threaten to kill my family and I would not make another puppet movie. If my mother would die if I would not make another puppet movie, she?d be dead. I?m totally serious. :lmfao: :lmfao:
Mark E
Moriarty has a review up at AICN: http://www.aint-it-cool-news.com/display.cgi?id=18551 Sounds hysterical. I'm already planning to catch this on opening night. If it's half as funny as the South Park movie, I'll be all set.
JFo
Awesome, Mark! Thanks for the link! The more I read about this movie, the more I want to see it. It's funny because I've known about it for a while now, but I haven't given it much thought. It just snuck up me and now I can't wait to see it. By the way, one thing I loved about that interview was that Trey and Matt made their movie as if they were working on a Jerry Bruckheimer film. "What would Jerry Do?" Angry the Clown
By the way, one thing I loved about that interview was that Trey and Matt made their movie as if they were working on a Jerry Bruckheimer film. "What would Jerry Do? I still love what their initial idea for a puppet film was going to be. It's briefly talked about in that great interview, but they've expanded on it elsewhere in admitting their original intent was to take the script of The Day After Tomorrow and release their puppet version alongside the real one theatrically. Needless to say it all got consumed in legal issues. I too love this Bruckheimer attack angle though. I'd say the film is looking more like a critique on American cinema than it is political given Parker and Stone both admit they've really no idea what side they're on when it comes to current issues of politics, but that's something I like them for. Episodes of South Park, especially in season 6 to 8 where the show has just been on stunning form, feel like they take sides, but often attack the stupidity of many on both sides of an argument be they domestic or foreign policy issues. I can't bring myself to read the review at AICN though as....well.... it's AICN. Dan

Mark E
Saw this with my girlfriend, fucking hysterical. Funniest comedy I've seen in theatres this year. If you like South Park style humor, you'll like this. It really does skewer the hell out of action movies. Some fairly disgusting off-color bits, but hey, you should know what you're getting into. The soundtrack for this is awesome. The Team America theme song is a riot, ditto the one they play over the montage. :tu:
JFo
Thanks, Mark! I'm totally there next weekend. "America, Fuck Yeah!" indeed. :green:
Failsafe
I am seeing this ASAP as well. Thanks for the tip about the soundtrack - I'll check it out too.
Covak
I can't wait for opening day so I can see this movie again. And I can't wait to pick up the soundtrack. "fucking hysterical" is right on Some of the jokes (and especially the songs) had people in the theater giggling uncontrolably for a good long while Hell, I'm actually still laughing out loud every time I think about it My buddy and I couldn't stop laughing for hours afterwards. Playing some games until around 2am and we were still going "Oh man, and the part where..." and giggling like fools
Ryan FB
Just caught a new ad for Team America on TV that uses Ten Years After's "I'd Love to Change the World" (the rock solo used in all the Fahrenheit 9/11 promos) as the music...took me off guard a bit. Beer Monkey
I saw the sneak this weekend. Surprised when there were only 20 people in the audience. Pretty darn funny, I give it an 8.5 out of 10.
Covak
Surprised when there were only 20 people in the audience. I was surprised by the low turnout too. There were maybe 15 people when I went. I guess nobody knew. I even picked up tickets a little early, heh
JFo
Tonight I got a call from my asshole of a brother, who wanted to gloat because he caught the sneak preview of Team America last weekend. Long story short, he thought it was by far the best thing Trey Parker and Matt Stone have ever done. Seriously, you guys, he said he was in pain from laughing so hard. Since he and I have the exact same brain, I'm convinced now more than ever that I'm totally going to love this movie. How long until Friday?
