Scifi.com has a article which has a insert of a mel brooks interview in the newest playbill magazine.

You can read the news at Schwartz Returns

He wants it to be out before Episode 3 of SW but it can come out up to a year after it. However this is great new indeed. Too bad John Candy isnt still around to replay is role

God Willing we will all be back in Spaceballs 2 The search for more space bucks.

I was thinking about the lack of John Candy and how anyone else could possible play Barf, but then it struck me Brooks could be doing a whole prequel spin on Spaceballs with a new set of characters. That said, if we can't have Moranis back as Dark Helmet, that'd be incredibly sad news.

What's the matter, Colonel Sanders? ...CHICKEN?!

:lmfao: I love that chicken line.

This is really good news, and agreed about Moranis, of all people i can't believe he was the one who made this movie the most memorable for me, but he did. In college this was probably our most quoted movie, and pretty much just becuase of the line "Ahhhh Buckle this"

"I'm a mog. Half dog, half man. I'm my own best friend."

'What's your name?"

"Barf."

"Not in here pal, this is a Mercedes."

"Did you see anyhting?"

"No sir, I didn't see you playing with your dolls again."

"Good."

"I bet she gives great helmet."

I can go on and on. :)

This could definately be good news. While I enjoyed Spaceballs, I think it was at the very end of Brooks's classic movie run. Pretty much everything he has done since that has been pretty awful, IMHO. The best news for me with this announcement is the fact that Dracula Dead and Loving It won't be his last movie in terms of writing and directing. :tu: ;)
