AnthonyVolpe
Yes, there's a paintball game coming out for the XBox in November. Yes, most people will ignore it in favor of Halo 2. But I think it looks cool as hell. And it's a budget title. 20 environments to choose from and a quick-turn system as well in case you can't spin sround fast enough to cork someone. Anyone hear about this?
JoeyN
Yep i heard about it a few weeks back. Supposed to have a ton of options and a lot of live's newer features. capt

Camp
Played it. It's good dumb fun. I don't intend to say the game is good but for a budget tittle it's probably harmless. Certainly more interesting than the various Quake paintball mods I've played.

It doesn't come out until November 16th. Where did you play this? The PC?

Chris F
I know some of us have picked this up, so I'm wondering where all the reviews are? My quick review: Great game. Graphics are very decent, sounds are top notch. The way custom soundtracks are handled in game is cool too. Controls take a few minutes to pick up, but become very natural after a round or two. Dive, sprinting, ducking, firing around corners, above obstacles, it's all there. The "cheating" aspect of the game adds a nice little dimension to the gameplay. Not as much character customization as I would have liked, but here are tons of equipment to put on your guy. Haven't tried multiplayer over Live yet, but Jeremy tells me it's great, and it has the best "spectator" mode of a Live game yet. It's a fun game, and Live capabilities looks awesome. If you're looking for a nice change of pace game, this is a good one to pick up.
dogbert
The "cheating" aspect of the game adds a nice little dimension to the gameplay. Explain, please. I haven't read much of anything about this game so I don't know what this aspect is.
Chris F
Brian - Basically when you get hit once, there's a meter that swings back and forth - Stop it in the middle, and it's like the paintball bounced off you. Don't stop it in the middle, and the refs "catch" you wiping the paint off. Based on your attributes and that of who shot you, the meter swings faster or slower. If you get hit again while it's swinging, it's an automatic out.
JoeyN
I may pick the game up . I have a GS gift card with no games to buy for a while(ordered Mech2 online). capt

Dave C
A bunch of us played last night. This game is very addictive and is a lot better than I thought. The single player is actually very good. The AI is tricky at times and will change spots when peeking around objects with no noticible timing pattern and charge and flank especially when your team is low on players. The pre and post game stats/live interface is very clean and well arranged. The graphics were alot better than I would have thought for a "budget" title. The variation in the equipment characteristics are noticible and effect your gameplay (i.e.: You can see the change in the load speed of the hoppers as well as the speed and trajectory of the paintballs). There are some unique controls for an FPS that really make this game shine. Turbo running, diving, snaping (peeking), changing gun hands. The host controls have some depth to them as well. I really like the fact that as the host you can turn off cheating especially if your playing with seasoned veterans that have mastered the timing of the cheat meter. Another nice host option is limiting the number shots allowed. Even when your out and waiting for your match to end the game keeps you entertained by allowing you to smoothly free roam the entire playing field very quickly. I normally don't hype a game but I can see that this title may have gotten lost in Halo & GR2's wake. Unfortunately alot of people will just pass this game up thinking it's just another simple FPS with paintballs instead of bullets. The unique elements of play inherent in paintball and the control scheme really make this game shine. I highly recommend this game. For those who have it, I'd love to hear your opinions. FLYING SE7EN
Well said Dave, We had a blast playing this the other night, only thing I could add is that the game supports custom soundtracks which is another plus. Highly recommended. J.
Robot Monkey
Dammit, now you guys have me really tempted. And I was trying to avoid FPS's! Is there decent variety in maps? How about gametypes? Is it all speedball? Oh, and Jeff, is custom music available in-game or only in menus? -j
FLYING SE7EN
Custom soundtracks are in-game. Not sure how many maps there are, but they seemed to vary pretty well. The game types that I know of are Elimination, Team Elimination, CTF and single flag, there might be more though. J.
Union Carbine
I wasn't going to get this but you guys are making me reconsider... :green:
Beer Monkey
I was one of the five playing the other night, had a great time, if we would have had six or eight players it would have been a real hoot. This is a great game.
dogbert
Damn peer pressure, I might have to pick this up.

Jeff W
I read the word's "budget title" somewhere, how much for this one? $20? $30? I still have to pick up MechAssault 2 & pay off my RE 4 reserve, if this one is budget enough I may just have to pick it up.
