Jason Merrick
Well I ordered Dell's new ultraportable Inspiron 700m. It's not a gaming machine by any stretch of the imagination, but I think I will try picking up an old Ghost Recon and maybe a few others if you think they will run. It's running the newest 1.6 ghz Centrino with the 2mb L2 cache, 768mb Ram, 30gb HD, and unfortunately 64mb shared Intel Extreme Integrated graphics. I have heard of people playing Doom 3 on it at very low settings, but I don't intend to try running the latest & greatest. You all know how much I love GR, so aside from some of those older games, any other recommendations for good older games? P.S. No RPGs please! JTello
We do what we can. No we don't, quit trying to mislead him! We are a very unhelpful group of asshats! (That said,... as for older good games,... I loved Mafia! :tu: )
Robot Monkey
Sorry I didn't reply earlier, but many of my recommendations would be for RPG's. Do you like turn-based strategy? Because Galactic Civilizations was a blast. -j
Jason Merrick
I've never tried any of the Civilization types of games, although a few of my coworkers do play them... What would be your highest recommendation in that genre for someone who has never played one?

Robot Monkey
I'm thinking Civilization II.
GreenMonkey
You wanna play games that aren't RPGs or turn-based strategy games on Intel Extreme Graphics?? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH LOL Just teasing. We played C&C Generals (RTS) on our 2.8 P4 HT Desktops with Intel Xsuck at work. We tried it on a laptop though and the slow HD speed made the game choke... Q3 era games should work.
Robot Monkey
I wonder if Operation Flashpoint will work? http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/operatio...cwc/review.html -j

Yeah, that may end up being a quick upgrade after the RAM, I can get either a 60 or 80gb 7200 rpm HD for under $200... the only reason I am hesitant is the power consumption and the heat that would be generated by the faster drive. I have to keep reminding myself that I didn't buy this laptop for gaming! P.S. It shipped today... woohoo!
Jason Merrick
My computer came on Friday and I'm loving it! I picked up Ghost Recon Gold Edition with all three GR games and it runs fine at the highest settings 1280x800x32... so I think I might try a newer game and see if I can run it at the lower settings.
