Covak
http://desktop.google.com/index.html Seems as slick as everything else Google does, but I'm still in the "one-time indexing" phase so I haven't really used it yet myself. JTello
I know I must be missing something, but I'll ask anyway,.... why would I need a google program to search my computer? Why would it be better than just using the windows search?
dogbert
Google's indexing & searching routines are amongst the best around, that's why. Microsoft's searches are historically slow & stinky.
Kain rising
And that seems to be the case again - it's much faster than Window's built in search.
Covak
Woops on the wrong forum. The one-time indexing finished and ya, is right! Practically instantaneous Google searching of my e-mails, chat logs (with Trillian they're just all .txt files) and my browser cache. Pretty darn nice
Failsafe
I'll give this a try tonight.

I use FireFox at work (which is where I installed Desktop search) and it works perfectly. [Edit]I don't know about searching the web cache however - I always clear my cache after each browsing session, so there's nothing there for me to search
