the mini bundle doesnt have any games does it?

Doesn't matter really and the perceived value of the Xbox bundle is not my point. I'm speaking in terms of general excitement over the product. The PS2 "mini" is creating a bit of a buzz for the PS2 and getting people interested in the product. The newer more "sleek" design has garnered quite a bit of interest from the gaming community and I wouldn't be suprised to see PS2 sales spike in the next month or two because of it. I'm sorry but I just don't see the same happening for an Xbox bundle with Top Spin (great game but do you really think anyone is interested at this point?) and NCAA Football. It's only slightly more interesting than the Clone Wars/Tetris combo IMHO.

I dont think microsoft wants any buzz hardware wise. They have Halo 2 coming out next month. In Microsofts thoughts they wanna win it with software. not a smaller hardware this generation. I know what you mean, but thats probably there thinking.

As for the Ps2 mini buzz. Its gonna sell a ton. Ebworld.com already sold out of there first first shipment

Of course they do Joey or else there wouldn't be a bundle to begin with! Software is always going to be what attracts gamers but a more interesting bundle is going to do a helluva lot to move hardware. I understand where you are coming from (and I think Kelley has a good line of thinking) but a modified Halo bundle (with the green Xbox or perhaps even the crystal one making the rounds) and possibly another game such as PGR2 or Rallisport 2 would have been a whole lot more interesting IMHO, and I'm just throwing that out as an example.

I'm excited to see what bundles Sony & Nintendo will offer. If Sony does a bundle with the new PStwo I'm so there.

I don't know about Sony, but the bundle Nintendo is currently offering includes a platinum GameCube, a copy of Metroid Prime and a demo of Metroid Prime 2. Considering the quality of the game included, I think that's pretty good deal for $100.

Give me a bundle with a good online game or something.

Well to be fair Monkey Top Spin is very fun to play online and an all around good game in general. Something more recent would have made the bundle more enticing which is why I mentioned Rallisport 2 as a possible contender.

Oh, yea...that's a great one -but it's not their holiday bundle. The last of the Metroid bundles are in stores now.

Ya, I've got my Xbox, and will end up having to buy another since mine is starting to have problems....but I am really attracted to the PStwo. I will buy it when it hits $99, but if they throw in a couple of games I am interested in for $150, I'll bite this holiday season.

There's a game called Monkey Top Spin?!! Cooolllll. Microsoft seems to throw out some bizarre bundles without much rhyme or reason. What's with top spin being featured so prominently. We've got that sports pack bundle with top spin/ links and an s controller. Canada has an amped 2/ top spin holiday bundle and now the US gets a NCAA 2005/ Top spin bundle. I'd be curious if they're going to cheap out like they have in Canada, where they put Top Spin and Amped 2 on a single disc and package it into a cardboard sleeve.

The best bundle Microsoft put together here in Canada was a short lived bundle. A green translucent xbox with matching controller along with full retail versions of PGR2 and Crimson Skies. I picked this one up and traded in my old xbox which was starting to get very dodgy reading discs.

These new bundles don't seem to be very well though out at all. Top Spin is a very good TENNIS game, as in no matter how good the game is, it's TENNIS and a lot of people just won't care. As for NCAA 2005, let's face it, those who wanted the game, have bought it. Still, two games is better than no games, but sony will sell a lot of ps2 minis just because it's uber small.

Hard to believe after all this time, MS is still getting outslicked by sony. When the ps2 shortages were rearing their ugly head, that is when Microsoft should have kicked into high gear with some attractive bundle packages, selling to the new customer coming into a store asking for a ps2 in short supply and walking out instead with an xbox. When is Microsoft going to learn, they aren't sitting on a windows monopoly here where they call all the shots and consumers will take what's given to them.

I'm sorry to hear that you're disappointed with Microsoft's Xbox bundle this holiday season. However, there are better ways to voice your criticism than by throwing out the "M$" label. It's childish, reeks of fanboy-ism, and is not something we will tolerate here at LCVG. In the future, please avoid using it (or $ony) as a means of criticizing a decision you don't like.
