merlot
Here's something that I don't think was discussed: what will Xbox 2's killer app be with Halo 2 out on Xbox? Perfect Dark 2 maybe?
matt
Maybe they?re secretly working on Halo 3? Maybe they have a new franchise to launch with Xbox 2. Maybe they?ll have downloadable content for Halo 2 and make it backwards compatible. Whatever they do I just hope it?s fun to play. I also still have way too many games to play on this generations systems to worry to much about the next wave (it's still exciting to speculate though )
Camp
I thought I read somewhere that someone at Bungie (someone with influence) said Bungie was going to do a different game before considering a return to the Halo world. I also think someone at LCVG once mentioned that there is a 2nd team at Bungie which has been working on a non-Halo game for some time now. I have never been able to confirm this, however. I think discussion of possible Xbox 2 launch games is a good topic though. With evidence strongly indicating a fall 2005 release Microsoft must be confident some killer apps will be ready. I think Perfect Dark Zero is a lock. I also hope there will be a Project Gotham 3. Beyond that, I'm at a loss.

MrJames
Links, Amped and Top Spin would be nice for an X2 launch.

splunk
PGR3 would make my day. Maybe Too Human?
Camp
B.C.? Bioware might be expected to have something ready. Links, Amped and Top Spin would be nice for an X2 launch. Is this likely with the demise of XSN?

Derrik Draven
That would be cool if Elder Scrolls 4:Oblivion, would make it. But, a loooooooong rpg probably isn't what the masses want so, it's pretty damn doubtful that it's going to be a launch title. Maybe Valve is holding Half Life 2 back for an Xbox 2 launch title? I know that it's supposedly going to be out "sometime" for the Xbox but...WHICH Xbox? They've never said. Hmmmm.....They could package Half Life 2, original Half Life (source), Counter Strike (source), Opposing Force (source) and Blue Shift (source). Still, I don't know if a year old game would be that exciting to people. But, if they packaged in the original expansion games, and tweaked out the Source engine to smoke the pc version, maybe it would sell? Or maybe, Quake IV? I read the article in pc gaming. Timing would be about right. It looks absolutely amazing but, again...it wouldn't be an original, Xbox 2 only, game.

Is this likely with the demise of XSN? It was speculated that the current gen sequels to those games were cancelled to begin working on new versions for the next gen system. I hope thats the case. Maybe Valve is holding Half Life 2 back for an Xbox 2 launch title? I also wouldn't mind seeing Doom 3 moved to a next gen console.
Camp
The new Unreal engine is a likely candidate so I guess fair speculation would be to see a new Unreal game on Xbox2. I wonder if Criterion's FPS, "Black" might be better off seeing the light of day on the next generation considering it's state at E3. dogbert
Pretty much all of Microsoft's internal developers are on Xbox2 at this point. I'd expect something from Bizarre Creations, Perfect Dark from Rare seems like a lock as the Halo for Xbox2, XSN branded sports games etc. I think pretty much all of Bungie were pulled onto Halo 2 to get it finished, but that's not to say they couldn't go back to what they were doing before. I think it's too soon for a Halo 3 for a 2005 Xbox 2 launch.
Beer Monkey
I wouldn't mind seeing X2 '1.5' versions of Doom 3 and HL-2, even if they come out for the current Xbox. Same thing for Battlefield. I certainly hope to see Links 2 as a launch title. Perfect Dark is a given IMO. I doubt any Halo 3 has been in progress the last few months unless they have contracted a new development group for it.
Kain rising
While these are still rumors, comments like these Add to that the persistent rumor that many Bungie staffers are planning to join their former boss Alex Seropian at Wideload Studios when Halo 2 ships. make me somewhat nervous about the possibility of a Halo 3 at all. And I seem to remember hearing that 2 was going to be it. Above quote taken from Gamespot
Camp
Seropian's game at Wideload might as well be an Xbox 2 game. Sure, we don't know much about it (Halo 2 engine, humor, a film-like production) but it seems a bit late for a start-up with such buzz to waste their time on a lame duck system (especially considering the game is so far off). dogbert
(especially considering the game is so far off). The unofficial word is that Microsoft has little interest in any Xbox games post Spring 2005. Anything after that, especially if Microsoft are involved, is likely to be a Xbox 2 title. A bunch of third party publishers still have games in the pipeline for Christmas 2005 on the Xbox though. After that, it's trickier... General Zot
Halo 3 and/or Morrowind 4 would make it a must buy console for me. Especially if they had Morrowind running in 1080i on the Xbox 2. That would be too much gaming gravy for a hog like me to pass up.

MastaRedSnappa
I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that Rockstar is secretly making GTA4 for the Xbox 2 launch. It will be the revolutionary sequel to GTA3 (not an evolutionary one like Vice City or San Andreas) and will use the Xbox 2's next-gen graphics to create a completely immersive and expansive world unlike anything previously seen. Romier S
Some Xbox Next news from TokyO and Tecmo President Junji Nakamura. Here is the article on IGN: http://xbox.ign.com/articles/567/567600p1.html Nakamura's comments didn't end there. "There's no information from Sony. It's very different from Microsoft America," he stated, hinting that MS has been the more open of the two companies with its next generation plans. Getting a bit more up front in his criticisms, Nakamura commented that Sony's cooperation with the home appliance industry gives him the feeling that game functionality is being added as just a part of the picture. dogbert
Wait, the president of Tecmo is more keen on the XBox than the PS2? Who'd a thought it!
Romier S
Who'd a thought it! Yeah, not exactly a stretch I know. The article however bodes well for Tecmo and more specifically Team Ninja remaining one of the Xboxs' premiere third party developers for Xbox Next. Itakagi has always been somewhat hesitant to state any real preference for next gen, always noting a "The most powerful system that I can realize my games on is where I'll go" stance. It looks like they aren't going anywhere.
