Sam P
The manual says that leaving discs inside the Xbox for "extended periods" causes damage. What? How will that cause damage, and how do you define "Extended period". I dont get it.
Robot Monkey
Good question. Do they mean leaving it on all the time? Or just in general? Speaking of just in "general" I'm moving this from there into the Xbox forum. -j
merlot
Interesting... I leave my games discs in about 75% of the time... haven't had any problems < knocks on wood >
Bappo
If they mean leaving the disks in and the box running than I can understand the warning. I am on my second box from that. My first still works but only disassembled with a house fan blowing over it. Quite useless.
AndyVX
I can't honestly think of any reason why leaving a disc in the Xbox with it turned off would cause any problems. Like others have said, it must mean leaving it turned on with a disc in.
iainl
Aaah, I think I may have figured it out. Leaving discs in the player while transporting it is almost certainly a bad idea. So leaving a disc in the player and forgetting about it would be bad too, as you might inadvertantly perform the above procedure. Leaving discs in the player while you're actually playing games is kind of a fact of life however, so I fail to see why that would be wrong. Yep, I always make sure that when my xbox travels, to make sure there is no disk in the tray.
Camp
The Xbox manual also warns against placing the unit on a high shelf for fear that its bulk may injure small children. I've always found that funny. "My Xbox performed a finishing move on little Billy!"
