Oh yeah .... we are women ! See us frag !!

One of these days I am going to figure out how this link thingy works. In my online gaming time, I have not come across many women gamers. I think I ran into 2 or 3 in PS2's SOCOM, but never since getting X-Box Live. I am not saying there are none out there ... just I have not played with any of them. Yet, more and more women are getting into games with the market so full of appealing games for both male and female gamers. Any time I take my EGM to work, men and women BOTH comment on some game or another, if I am playing my GBA people want to talk about Nintendo games, classic and Next-Gen.

Just look at KOTOR. You can play as either male or female characters and they are not tricked out with huge boobs, (well the males don't have huge boobs anyway lol ) and although I have heard you can make the females run around in their under clothes they don't have really scanty clothing. Yet even though some of the games do ( Outlaw VolleyBall )

contain the same 'ol same 'ol female character formula, the game is presented in such a manner it is not as objectionable as it used to be. Maybe women gamers are becoming more tolorent, or we have come to the conclusion, if you can't beat them, join them online and beat them there.

You are right. I did not think about Tetris. I have a tendency to only play with people I know now from our various web hang outs we have all met at. Maybe I should brave the masses and play public games more often. I mean with a tag like mine ... it should be obvious I am female. But then again.....

I just played against a female for the first time in GRIT the other night... oddly enough her gamertag was Mrs Rufnek. She killed me a couple times and definitely knew her way around the OICW she was wielding.

Oh, that was just Ruffneck getting ready for his little snip snip operation :)

I have 2 gorgeous sisters, one of them used to game with me back in the NES/SNES days (Mario Kart and Mortal Kombat II come to mind), but now she wouldn't pick up a controller for anything. I have a hard time getting her to play Mario Party.

Somewhere along the way, I warped my other sister to like geeky stuff, and she's into Sci-Fi, Fantasy, LOTR, SW, H Potter etc. and she likes to game. Of course, being my sis she's Gamecube only and a big Resident Evil and Animal Crossing fan. She's also big into classic NES, Final fantasy on PS1, and more.

I wouldn't call my sis a real hardcore gamer, but to be honest, I don't know any other girls that are into gaming as much as she is. It would be nice if I did. :)

Man what I wouldn't give to find a girlfriend who also enjoyed gaming. I usually have to make excuses when I'm in a relationship so I can find time to game. Or expect to be called an immature dork!

Don't worry, my wife calls me that! :D

Damn it! I just spit pop all over my monitor... :lmfao:

On a serious note, sometimes I wonder how the girls I see playing on live do it. Last time there was a female playing in one of the games I was in there was some stupid punk chanting "lick my balls lick my balls". Too bad you can't track them down and go all Jay and Silent Bob on them. Guess I'm getting grouchy in my old age but man I would of liked to kick him in the balls.

Mostly only seen women online in Tetris. There was one who ventured in to play Wolfenstein with us, I wish i would have realized sooner I was using one of the more, um, interesting id's that evening (something about big and black I believe). She didn't comment on it, was actually quite talkative, and a fairly good shot to boot. Still surprised I didn't get negative feedback for the name.

My ex loved to play games, especially Perfect Dark and Chu Chu Rocket, even though she would usually get owned.

Dean... that is supposedly why the Feedback option is there. For people who do things like that. In all my time of playing with the guys, not a single one of them has every said anything TO ME that made my gaming experience something bad and to be avoided.

Now by " The Guys " I mean most of the original members of LCVG, and the original SOCOM clan we all formed up. Don't get me wrong.... there have been some real eye popping, "OMFG I can't believe you said that/used that nick/used that term of expressions " moments. But none of them ever treated me any different just because I am female. And I can tell you that they never took it easy on me in games either.

That kind of treatment is hard to find. Most guys can be condescending during war game play. One guy told me when we first started playing, " Girls can 't play SOCOM ! It's an all guy game. " In response, he was one of the first players shown that " Girls can too play SOCOM ", As shown by " You were killed by KillerMuffin with a claymore. " across the top of his screen. 8)

I've gotten several women into Worms Armageddon and SoulCalibur and got them hooked. Most of these girls wouldn't have played videogames otherwise. RobotMonkey and I were able to entice a few girls to play Halo at parties (of course we didn't have the incentive to let them live, so they stopped).

Don't know any women my age who play videogames. I do know one college aged girl from the Phillipines who is an absolute God at CounterStrike, though.

Before my daughter was born my wife and I would play the Age of Empires games at least once a day. We never took it online, as she was more into the city creation aspect than the war aspect.

We also used to play quite a bit of Moonbase Commander, and would have taken it online if it had supported NAT.

My wife LOVEs crazy taxi, Tekken 3, and the New Tetris. To a lesser extent she has enjoyed Soul Caliber, Midtown Madness 3, and I'm trying to get her into Outlaw Volleyball. She tried XBlive and felt weird talking to all the geeky trash-talk'n guys. But one on one online play is enticing I think. DOA:online will be very appealing I bet.

Here's a story a friend told me today. He was on the patio of a bar with a girl he'd recently met, when a car stereo started playing Flock of Seagulls. She said, "That song always reminds me of... Vice hrmmmm...".

My friend responds brilliantly with something along the lines of, "WHAT DID YOU SAY?"

Busted, she went full on into it, "Vice City. That song reminds me of it. You know, I just found out that if you kill the hookers you can get your money back."

I told him to marry her, and he said he's seriously considering it.

Pure Poetry!!

We have at Wolfservers a female Battlefield 1942 player. She usually just plays on Sundays during the Wolf Clashes (mini-tourney) but its cool to hear her german accent on teampseak while playing.

The title of the article is a bit tricky "Study: Female gamers outnumber boys"

A poll released by the Entertainment Software Association and conducted by Peter D. Hart Research Associates found 26 percent of game players are women 18 or older, while 21 percent are boys 6 to 17.

This does not really indicate that there is a higher percentage of female gamers than there are males, It just states that there are more female gamers over the age of 18 , than there are boys between the ages of 6-17, Hardly what I would call groundbreaking news, as there are a great many more females that are 18 years of age or over in this world than there are boys in the limited age bracket of 6-17..

It's not also made very clear as to just what is considered a videogame. Does playing a round of solataire or bingo on a contest web-site like Pogo.com count as being a gamer? I suppose that can be debated but in any case it would of been more useful if the study revealed the overall percentages without playing around on the ages.

I guess it's pretty irrelevent as even 26% (women 18 or over) is a pretty sizeable chunk of a market that is for the most part marketed towards guys.

Males overall 38 + 21 = 59%

Females overall 26 + 12 = 38%

I guess the remaining 3 percent are hermaphrodites :?

Anyhow It's hard to say with online games, The "guy" with the gamertag MrSappBoneCruncher that demolished your sorry ass 57-3 on NFL Fever, could very well be 11 year old Megan
