exile
When I saw the title, I new it had to be good. Xplay reviewed it the other night and gave it a 5 out of 5. Anyone playing it and mind giving me a rundown on it?
Mark E
You mean the update of Sid Meier's swashbuckling classic? Friend of mine has it and says it's an update of the original, which can only be a good thing. I mean to buy it eventually but I have so much to do right now that I can't afford the game lock that Pirates would give me. I used to play the first one SOOOO damn much back in the day. I probably sunk well over 80 hours into it. That's probably underestimating. It's a fantastic title and a true PC classic So I haven't, but it sure sounds damn fine. Tranquility
I haven't played it either, but the reviews everywhere are looking pretty good, so I'm also planning to pick it up eventually. Problem is, the day has only 24 hours and I'm swamped with new titles.
General Zot
Since it's basially the same as the classic version with some frilly updates, yeah it's good. I'm waiting for the xbox version and see which is better (PC/Xbox) before I buy one. Best way to describe this game is imagine GTA on the high sea (and less vulgarity.) You can be any kind of Captain/Pirate you want, and all the choices are fun. Definitely a game where you pop it in to play an hour and next thing you know it's 4 AM. Mark E
Definitely a game where you pop it in to play an hour and next thing you know it's 4 AM. Ha ha, so true. The best is when you pull off a win with impossible odds. I've frequently sunk galleons using lowly barques after several, several rounds of broadside cannonfire and it's one pleasant gaming experience :tu
secretvampire
Oh my GOD, I played the original version for the Commodore 64 so much, and then played Pirates! Gold on the PC years later just as much. I have been meaning to pick this up, but I have such a backlog right now I'm just waiting for the price to drop. General Zot
Yeah, when this title inevitably hits the $19.99 mark I'll be picking it up.
exile
Snakefish, Ditto. Been playing too much eq2 lately to play other games especially at $50.
Andy Sheets
I bought it almost as soon as it came out. Told myself I should wait but I just couldn't It's one of those games in which you tell yourself you'll only play 15 minutes only to end up staying up half the night. There's always one more ship to seize, one more buried treasure to find, one more governor's daughter to romance, etc. My only nitpicks are that it would have been cool if you could customize your guy's appearance and, this is just me personally, I totally suck at the dance sequences. I managed to impress one plain Jane but other than that I've stumbled in every single dance
Derrik Draven
I played the hell outta this back on my Amiga 500. Hours and hours and hours...you guys know the drill. The best is when you pull off a win with impossible odds My best win was a land raid on Caracas, or some big time town named like that, with an undermanned group of pirates. We sacked the town, and split up a TON of cash!!!! Best win ever, for me, in that game. :tu Funny that you can remember little gaming events like that, years later.
