Josh
You would probably enjoy (no surprise coming from me): ICO on the PS2 and Beyond Good & Evil on either the PS2 or Xbox. Both can be had pretty cheap, so that will leave you some cash to buy another one.
Mark E
Beyond Good & Evil is one of the top 5 games I have played on this generation of systems. Period. :tu
iainl
Why only one, with that much money? Katamari Damacy for $29.99 CDN Mirrowind: Game of the year edition for $29.99 CDN Ico for $19.99 CDN and that still leaves you with $20 change. Kain rising
You can also find Metal Arms: Glitch In The System pretty cheap these days, I think. It's a great game as well.
Anthony G
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, it's cheap and really fun.
JFo
I'll throw in a recommendation for Jak 3. I don't know how much you liked the second one, but the third is a much more focused game overall and doesn't require to you to spend most of your time running from mission to mission. Also, I'm having a blast with Metal Gear Solid 3 at the moment. I'd highly recommend that game as well.
General Zot
I haven't read a bad game idea in this thread yet. Any one of those titles above are worth every penny. To maximize your money though I would think of renting the shorter games and buying one long ass replayable game after that. Lots of great games out there now that can be finished in 10 or so hours. So I would try to rent a few of these (one at a time) and rip through them during the rental period: * ICO (PS2) * Riddick (XBOX) * Beyond Good & Evil (XBOX/PS2) * Prince of Persia (XBOX/PS2) * Metal Arms: Glitch (XBOX/PS2) Some of those are so cheap now that buying used might be the same price as renting, take a peek at your used gameshops. Then settle down for a nice, long experience with the remainder of your money. There is no way you're going to get through all these have to offer in a rental period: * Morrowind, newer version (XBOX) * Ninja Gaiden (XBOX) * Mark of Kri (PS2 - really cheap price but insanely awesome) * Knights of the Old Republic (XBOX - cheap too) There are many, many more games but those spring to the top of my head. Enjoy...
Chris
You should get Dark Cloud 2. It's a PS2 game and can be had for $35 CAD at amazon.ca. From your description I think you'd get a kick out of it. It's an this incredible-looking, huge action RPG and definitely good value for your money. Of course, you can't go wrong with any of the games listed in this thread so far.

Angry the Clown
I'll second all of Iain's suggestions, and then command the remaining $20 go toward Beyond Good and Evil. Daniel
JohnEBGood
Yeah Metal Gear Solid 3 is a winner....I'd recommend that, but all the games people have suggested so far are great

Mark E
Metal arms too short easy to blow though?????? Yeah, the heck? I've put over 20 hours into it already and I'm still not done...
JFo
I agree, Mark. Metal Arms is much more than a 10-hour game. It took me around 20 hours to get through the 42 levels on Normal difficulty. I have another recommendation for you. Check out Sly 2: Band of Theives for the PS2. If you like the platformers on the PS2, this one will surely make you happy. I actually think it was better than Jak 3 and Ratchet and Clank 3. Click here to read my full review of it. General Zot
Mark of Kri can be had used in the states for like $7 and new for $10, so it's around. One of the most underrated games ever for how cool it is. Best way to describe it is imagine if Disney had animated the Conan the Barbarian movie and you were Conan. Not removed any gore or blood mind you, just used that Disney animation style. And then they went psycho with the brutality and blood. That's Mark of Kri, never seen anything else even remotely like it.
exile
Best Buy had Metal Arms for < $10. If you have one nearby, they should have lots of copies.
DaveC
I played through Sly 1 already and i was looking at Sly 2....so the three I'm thinking are metal arms, mark of kri and ofcourse beyond good and evil..
DaveC
Well i went searching over the weekend and found Beyond Good and Evil for only $9.99 canadian at Future Shop...All i can say is wow:tu What a great game!! Its too bad it sold so poorly..I'd love to see a sequel even though I'm still early in the game...I have the ps2 version but for only 10 bucks you can't complain. So now I have about $80 left for a game and I'm thinking Doom3 in April..Good choice???
iainl
If it turns out like the PC version, then no, really. Pretty, but dull. I never did get more than about an hour into it.
