dogbert
Heh, Sega just announced a new Puyo Puyo game for the GC, XBox and.... DREAMCAST!
Romier S
DREAMCAST! Oh the dreams of seeing its return to glory!
kelley
Maybe this could spark a revival! maybe even a Dreamcast 2, PowerVR is close to finishing the PowerVR 5 chipset......ok wait I'm getting a head of myself. Seriously though, I don't see why they don't keep the library avaliable as budget titles. As someone who worked in retail in a not so good area, we sold just as many Genesis/SNES games as we did PS/N64 games....and this was back in 1999. JTello
-Ok, so it's not the biggest announcement, and heck, maybe no-one on these boards will even care about the game, but I still found this announcement interesting,... " With the Tokyo Games Show looming near, Sega has announced its line-up for the event - revealing,... Puyo Puyo Fever, the latest update to the popular Puyo Puyo puzzle game franchise (which will also be appearing on PS2, Xbox and, believe it or not, Dreamcast),..." Source: gameindustry Great, now I'm gonna hold my breath until Sega announces another new title,
iainl
You do know that Border Down comes out in the next week or two, don't you? Dreamcast games continue to appear in drips and drops.
iainl
Well, I did have a moment where I considered buying Border Down, which is out Any Day Now in Japan. There's a new King Of Fighters on the way too, isn't there?
heavy liquid
Yeah, King of Fighters 2002 just came out a couple of months ago. I'll also be picking up Border Down in a few weeks as well. Looks like a fun shooter. Seriously though, I don't see why they don't keep the library avaliable as budget titles. As someone who worked in retail in a not so good area, we sold just as many Genesis/SNES games as we did PS/N64 games....and this was back in 1999. I agree! I picked up some extra controllers and a keyboard for the DC this weekend while Gamestop was having its 50% off used accesories sale. The guy working there said he was surprised at how well the Dreamcast consoles and games still sold.
JTello
-iainl -No I didn't know Border Down was coming out, but really I was actually surprised that Sega itself was putting out a game, as I didn't think that Sega was going to support thier own console anymore. I was aware that some games have trickled out from other sources though. Here's a question, has anyone ever used this item for the dreamcast VGA/S-Video Board I was wondering how well it worked? dogbert
I don't have that particular model, but VGA on the Dreamcast is sweet. It rocks. Simple as that.
The Daisy
Yeah, I used my VGA adapter on my DC. Man, that system looked terrific in VGA. Glen
JTello
-How about using the S-Video out to your television, was there a noticeable increase in video quality? Having just bought a house I am pumped to finally have a place to set up great gaming/home theather room, and as it relates to this discussion thread, a great Dreamcast set up to go along with my Xbox, Nes, Atari :green: , and HTPC. Romier S
I went ahead and merged this topic with the Dreamcast Resurrection topic. This topic was the older of the two. Please continue the discussion here.
Calvin
Resurrected? Unfortunetly not. But the Dreamcast did die before its time. It also blazed a trail for many of the gaming features that we see today - like console online gaming & connectivity. I love my DC. Always have - & I always will. It lives on in my household
Chris
Here's a question, has anyone ever used this item for the dreamcast Yeah, a friend and I won some DC stuff off of E-bay, including two vga adapters, one Blaze and one like you have there. Now I have the Blaze one, which works great, but I've played DC over at his place using the other one, and it works fine too. The DC looks amazing in VGA. I found the S-video to be a nice improvement over the regular composite signal as well.
heavy liquid
Has anyone gotten Border Down for the Dreamcast, yet? If so, maybe we could get some quick impressions on it?
heavy liquid
I finally got my copy of Border Down, and what a great game! It looks VERY nice, with graphics equal to that of Ikaruga. It also has the 3D models with 2D gameplay. Very nice. It's difficult, but not as difficult as Ikaruga (for me). My biggest criticism so far is that the screen fills with a jarring 'blank TV snow channel' when you die. Complete with the annoying sound. Orpheus
Finally snagged copies of Ikaruga and Border Down for Dreamcast today. I forgot how much I enjoyed playing sidescrolling shooters like Border Down, even if I do die way too fast and get the annoying snow screen. After playing this it makes me wonder if I should go back and check out Bangai-O and Mars Matrix. Oh yea, here's a link to Puyo Puyo Fever. Haven't had a chance to babelfish it yet. Calvin
Mars Matrix is one of the next DC games that I'd like to pick up. Man, I reallt wish they could make some kind of handheld portable DC console...

Where? How much? I'm very interested in picking up these titles (as well as Rez and Headhunter), but whenever I see them, and that is rarely, they are prohibitively expensive. And Mars Matrix is excellent.
iainl
On the subject of Border Down I'd just like to caution people, before they get carried away. All the evidence I'm hearing from people with it is that its no Ikaruga. Rez (though it really isn't worth paying over twice as much as a PS2 version for, as the differences are tiny), Ika itself and Bangai-O are all worth every penny they cost, however. Orpheus
All the evidence I'm hearing from people with it is that its no Ikaruga From the bit of both I squeezed in over the weekend I'd agree. On the other hand, it is a new Dreamcast game, and that alone made it worth checking out for me. Allen, remind me about it next time we play Links.
