ChoiceStriker
Sweet! Thanks, I was just wondering where I could find HL2 on the cheap. Looks like this might be a good option.

splunk
HL2 deal is dead, but SW:RC seems to still be available at that price.
ChoiceStriker
Hey guys, I got my copy of HL2 from eCost the other day, and it looked exactly like the US retail version of the game. I didn't think anything about it, and the installation and CD key verification went perfectly, but I noticed that the sleeve for CD1 said "HL2 Asia Pacific" under the key. I checked the box again, and noticed that something had been crossed out with a black permanent marker. I scratched off the ink with my fingernail and found "Asia Pacific Version" underneath. I'm a little puzzled - everything is in English... but why would eCost send the Asian version to me? I'm going to play it and make sure everything functions properly. I know that their price on HL2 has changed, but I wanted to give anyone else a heads-up.
Eldorado
GoGamer does the exact same thing. But they put a note on the webpage stating that it's the "English Import Version." Or something to that effect. I've always been very leery of that kind of thing. Sean
ChoiceStriker
Yeah, I didn't see any indication on eCost's website that it was anything but the US version, and the fact that they intentionally blacked out the version on the outside of the box seems fishy to me. Unfortunately since I already opened and installed the game I don't think I'd be able to complain about it if I needed to. Since the game installed and plays fine and hasn't had any problems with Steam, I guess I'll just keep it. I do wish I had known what I was really getting, though. I like to surf websites (like glen mentioned) that are dedicated to finding deals and bringing the info back to this forum. I hope it all works out for you. ChoiceStriker
No need to apologize - you couldn't have known. I appreciated hearing about the deal. Since I haven't had any problems yet I'll probably just let it go anyway. Or I could always spring for the collector's edition somewhere...
