NickC
Check these out.. http://www.easports.com/games/nhl2004/movi...ies_def_xbx.jsp looks like EA made some changes for this year, of course still no online play, but it should be much better than last year, hopefully sega turned out the heat with their series. JohnE
So is anyone else picking this up on tuesday? It's been many, many, many years since I've owned or played a hockey game, but this one sure has me excited for some reason. Can't wait. Anyone else? NickC
what, nobody likes to play a little puck?
Camp
I was excited until I played the demo. I'll try the final game once it's released as I want it to be good but the demo left a bad taste in my mouth.

Romier S
Nick apparently likes to play puck 8) Therefore I'm merging these two threads ladies and germs. Enjoy.
NickC
I love to play a little puck, what demo are you talking about john? the demo for easports NHL 2004 is out? segas game should be out this week, I will probably buy ea this year because I bought segas last year, unless it has some notable and purchase worthy changes... JohnE
I love to play a little puck, what demo are you talking about john? the demo for easports NHL 2004 is out? I think you mean iCamp. But I'd like to know too. I really want a hockey game this year and was leaning towards Sega's, so I'd like to hear what iCamp didn't like about the demo. Graeme
What was merged? It doesn't seem like we're all talking about the same game here since NHL2004 doesn't come out till the end of the month. ESPN is this week. As for the demo, if we're talking about the ESPN demos... they are old and do not represent final gameplay. The PS2 is even older than the XBox demo. Waz, who runs ESPNhockey.net and is the mod for the ESPN NHL forum at Thunderpuck has a final build of the game and has been quite impressed with it. I can't wait! EA's game looks like it should be better this year (it can't be much worse than 2003), but while I am interested in trying it out, I'm not terribly optimistic. NickC
I believe espn added some new deke moves. the reason why I love the ea game is because of the the deke feature and the way the goalie reacts, no other game has had that one on one encounter as good as ea's, the problem is that the rest of the game is ussually lacking, sega has the gameplay great, but the one on one breakway has been a little lacking, so hopefully sega steps up in one on one and ea steps up in gameplay. from what I have read/seen both have made steps in the right directions, but will it be enough, will we have a game as good as nhl 94? time will tell. NickC
Hopefully ea will be releasing the PC demo soon, from what I heard expect it this week, but who knows if they are even going to releash one.
James T
I wasn't really excited about EA's version until I saw the video. Now I'm not sure which NHL game to get.
Graeme
Read EGM's review today and all 3 reviewers gave ESPN a higher score (one them substantially higher). All three of them, plus the GMR reviews have pretty much said the same thing. Graphics are better in ESPN, gameplay in ESPN is better and more refined over last year. EA has new controls to keep up with ESPN (although ESPN was lagging with the manual dekes) there is way too much hitting which makes much of the new control they added rather pointless, but EA has much better Franchise/GM mode. JohnE
Thanks DrunkOM. I think I'm just gonna say "screw it" and grab this tomorrow. I've been anticipating getting a hockey game all summer and I don't feel like waiting for EA's offering to see which is better.
Graeme
Check out http://www.espnhockey.net for some great new videos, sounds, and if you feel adventerous, check out the Q&A thread linked at the bottom (although you'll probably have to register). NickC
The PC DEMO for NHL 2004 is out right now, and ESPN NHL Hockey comes out tomorrow, IGN gave it a score of 9.3 saying it is the best hockey game ever, we shall see.....
