Romier S
Got this from over at the Gaming-Age forums: - First screens of Elongation in Halo 2 (Remake of Longest) - Half-Life 2 Cover Story - Article on Star Wars games, including Battlefront II and Episode III - Feature on Full Spectrum Warrior 2.0 And Scores... Psychonauts- 9.5 NARC- 3.1 MX vs. ATV Unleashed- 7.6 Constantine- 6.3 Cold Fear- 8.1 Lego Star Wars: The Videogame- 7.0 Top Gear RPM Tuning- 2.2 Drive to Survive- 4.8 Close Combat: First to Fight- 2.8 Demos include... - Doom 3 - Psychonauts - Darkwatch: Curse of the West - Pariah Close Combat was absolutely killed review wise. These scores have been confirmed by several folks that have the magazine too. Psychonauts score is definitely good to see as well. Half Life 2 is gracing the cover which means the Xbox version is looking to be on the way and set to release this Summer in fact with no multiplayer mode apparently. Just a straight up port of the single player game which is worth the price of admission of alone if you ask me. Though I'd prefer an Xbox Next version to be honest and CounterStrike Source should be a given on even the current release! (though I'm sure a separate release of that will be on the way if there is indeed no multiplayer come HL2's release) I'll definitely have to track down the magazine for the Psychonauts demo. EDIT: More on Close Combat: - Bad visuals including poor lighting, "wonky physics", clipping issues, and tiny levels - No voice commands - Horrible voice acting - Repetitive levels And then there's their biggest complaint...Horrible AI from your squadmates. - They run out into oncoming fire - They can't eliminate a single person, who will oftentimes, take all three of them down - The enemies can take bullet after bullet ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Full Spectrum Warrior 2.0 article... - The game's storyline puts you in control of both an American and British force, both of who are trying to take control of a vital bridge in a modern day war. - Delta and Charlies forces have been added for some missions, but are not like the other squads...They varry from .50 cal toting vehicles to snipers. - Combat effectiveness meter has been added, which can effect your squads morale - Can split squads into "Buddy Teams", with two squads of two, in each group. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ..and finally the Psychonauts review summary: - "Hands down best art direction you've ever seen in an Xbox game." - Very immersive - Great voice acting, good writing, and lots of humor - Awesome gameplay balance between thinking and button mashing, that "hasn't been seen around these parts since who knows when." The pluses literally say..."EVERYTHING" The minuses are "Rats, Censors, Personal Demons"
rustyjaw
I was holding my breath regarding psychonauts, looks like it's time to breathe...can't wait to get this game now.
Mithran
To bad Close Combat go such bad reviews. Still going to pick it up though, I'm kinda partial. I guess I'll post on my thoughts about the game so others can read about it before they buy it.
JFo
Just a straight up port of the single player game which is worth the price of admission of alone if you ask me. I definitely agree. I played the PC version at a friend's house and love every second of it. Are we sure that this is coming out on Xbox and not Xbox 2? Either way, I'm picking it up, but I would much rather see a port of the game with stunning high definition graphics and no compromises in any other technical area. Romier S
no compromises in any other technical area. If the Doom 3 Xbox port is any indication, Valve should be able to do a stunning port of Half Life 2 on the Xbox. Though as mentioned, I would prefer to see it as an Xbox 2 launch title with 720p support :tu .

I read your post and was torn between, "ALRIGHT!!!!", and, "damn...I wish they would've waited for the next Xbox". Guess we'll have to wait and see but, I wonder how well they'll be able to make HL2 shine.... Did they announce a date for it?
Romier S
Did they announce a date for it? Summer 2005 at the moment. Nothing specific as of yet.
AnthonyVolpe
Definitely gonna have to look at Psychonauts. It's been hyped to the gods and apparently for good reason. And I can live without Half-Life 2 not coming out on the XBox 2. I want it  !now! and I don't give a damn if they cut a corner or two to get it on the XBox. I'm not gonna care about a spectral light source not being in place when I'm trying to chop motherf*#@$rs in half with a saw blade with my gravity gun. :dance
General Zot
Psychonauts is a must buy, with such a creator behind it was there any doubt? I played HL2 on the PC already, don't think I'd double dip for the Xbox. Maybe if it was Xbox 2 and pumping 1080i. I'm sure it will play great anyway, but it seems that no corners should be cut with that game. It's a work of art IMO, it deserves everything you can throw at it :rock -J
dogbert
with such a creator behind it was there any doubt? Frankly, yes. There were some extremely negative comments from people who had played it about the "funness" of it all when it was originally dropped by Microsoft & that the level of quality of the game just wasn't there. foogledricks
I am excited for Half-Life 2, but am dissappointed with the lack of multiplayer and it not being published on Xbox Next. Half-Life is one of my top five games of all time. And my repetitive stress disorder prevents me from playing computer games So I've been waiting on the console port

Derrik Draven
It's the 22nd, I still don't have my copy yet. I was wondering, are there any pics of how Half Life 2 looks on the Xbox? If so, how does it look?

Romier S
If so, how does it look? It looks it's coming along nicely. There will no doubt be sacrifices, but what's shown in the article is a good representation of the PC game Derrick.

I was still amazed by it so, I'm going to guess that the 'Box's version will be superior to what I experienced. Definitely, definitely picking this up!!!!
