Anyone Pick Up Close Combat: First to Fight?

I picked up 3 PSP games and God of War at the same time as this so granted I may not have given it the attention it deserves, I'm going to play it some more tonight to try and get a better feel but just on initial impressions this is going back.

IGN has thier review up. They gave the game a solid 8.0 .

In many regards, Close Combat: First to Fight is a solid, likeable squad-based first-person shooter. It's a respectable title from a first-time development team, and it's remarkable how in all ways this FPS handles strict military tactics and protocol.

The game is pretty good. It could use voice communication to control your team though. It's kind of hard to shoot and direct your team at the same time using only a controller. Weapons are very realistic and your team is deadly accurate. My SAW gunner hit this guy ducking behind a wall when I kept hitting the top of it even while I was scoped in. He might have had a better angle though. Characters move a lot slower than other FPS's so people may not like that. I did notice some clipping through the ground but it wasn't that bad. I think this game will really shine in the co-op mode because players can move on there own. Your team will move and shoot but they will not do it without your direction. They will also move out of danger of a grenade or something. I threw a frag short and my team member ran away from it and yelled grenade. While running he came under fire, changed his direction to the closest possible cover shooting on the move until he got there. Then he peaked around the corner and killed the guy who shot at him. Calling in airstrikes and sniper support is very easy, as well as giving you team door orders like take down or frag and clear. They will actually close the door after throwing the frag in so they won't get shot. After the grenade goes off they file into the room, cover their sectors of fire and shoot any targets. One nice touch is you'll hear them say red after a fire fight. This let's you know they have to reload and they will say green after reloading. It is obvious they had a lot of support from U.S. Marines on this one. Not bad.

I was finally able to put God of War and Lumines down long enough to give this a proper go. A lot of my initial issues were just adjusting to the gameplay & control type stuff, I quickly got used to the slow, bobbing walk your guy does and some of the firefights can get really intense. The AI is just horrible though, 2 or 3 times I walked into a room I had sent my squad into first only to see one Marine standing right next to a bad guy with neither one making any attempt to kill the other. I could see the co-op being really fun but that can be said of most Live enabled games with that feature.

I've seen the same thing but not so much my guy sitting there right next to him. I saw one of them buttstroke an enemy. The enemy AI could use some work. I had one run right at me and when no one even me could hit him, he ran past me and I shot him in the back. That happens in Rainbow Six 3 all the time. At least my guys shoot better than they do in RS6. I must have gotten a good copy or something because AI issues haven't become a problem yet. If you liked FSW gameplay, which I didn't but I liked the idea, but you want to shoot bad guys yourself I say pick it up.

Finished the SP campaign tonight, overall I gotta say I enjoyed the hell out of this one, it really picks up about a quarter of the way through, past the "training" levels as it were. There are a few AI issues, rarely with your squad but they do occasionally wander into your line of fire. Haven't had much time with the live component yet but on single player I would have to say I liked this better than either R6 3.
