CaptainRon
I am just blown away that people think the cookie monster is so influential. I watched when i was younger and I to this day know the song to heart. That does not mean that i'm eating cookies all the time though. Carlucci
My daughter calls him "Hrraapph!" <closest approximation I could type to the sound of chomping down on a cookie> I'm pretty sure her entire belief system is driven from his cookie eating habits. Jordan_E
W is for Whatever! My daughter watches Sesame Street virtually every morning and I don't see her even wanting to eat cookies, although she knows Cookie Monster by sight! This reminds me when they sobered up Barney on The Simpsons and turned the character into a shadow of its former self!

Cyberwoo
They sobered up Barney!?!? Wow wtf. I guess I really haven't been missing anything on the Simpsons. I knew the series sucked compared to its glory years but sobering up Barney? That is messed up.

PoisonJam
I just saw the skit with the owl telling cookie monster that cookies are a "sometimes" food and urging him to eat some fruit instead, and to be honest I didn't see the harm. It's a worthy message, but it's misguided in my opinion. My two-yr-old likes cookies not because a puppet eats them but because they taste good, and the actions of that puppet are not likely to influence his diet wishes one way or another. However, when he gets a little older if I can remind him that cookies are a "sometimes" food and reinforce that with reminding him that even cookie monster has to nosh a banana once in a while, I think that's a good thing.
