Midnight Showing of SW Ep. III: Who's going?

I love Star Wars but I've become less tolerant of opening day hype and crowds as I've aged. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not. I did the midnight thing for the last two but I'm perfectly willing to wait a week for crowds to die down before catching this one.

Pretty soon I'll be buying a rocking chair for the porch. Watching cars drive by is begining to sound fun.

I just noticed that Fandango is selling them so I'll be getting my tickets through them or at my local theater once I confirm how many are going with me. One thing that will make this a different experience for me is that one of my friends is making jedi robes for himself and me. I've never been that big a geek before :).

Last time i went to a midnight showing it was full of little punks who wouldnt keep quiet

Well, it looks like I'm not the only one who is getting old. ;)

1. Never make such an admission unless compelled by an external force (torture).

2. Peer pressure can be a bad thing -especially when it requires you to wear a jedi robe in public.

3. Star Wars isn't Rocky Horror.

I've had quite the opposite experience at premiere midnight showings of Star Wars, LOTR and Matrix films. Most of the people that go to these are die hard fans and therefore always seem to be well behaved once the film starts.

I'll catch it early Monday(the one after) at 9am or so. No need/desire to catch it on opening night. The main reason would be the dissapointment I had with the first 2 films. If they were decent, I'd probably have booked a midnight. They were WAY BELOW average thus I can wait.

No midnight for me. I tried a midnight film showing once just to have done it, and once was enough. I don't quite understand the obsession with it when one could be stranded at 3am once they leave the theatre. It's not really my cup of tea.

This is taking place in London on the 16th however:

For the first and last time, anywhere in the world, Lucasfilm have agreed to screen the complete Star Wars Saga in one sitting at UCI Empire.

All six movies will be screened at the Empire on Monday 16 May - Three days before the global release of Episode III. All tickets will be onsale to the general public at ?50 each.

George Lucas & key stars will introduce the movies at the Empire.

The worldwide media event will showcase the cinema and square. Leicester Square will be fully dressed including The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra playing throughout the day in the square; the 501st Legion Storm Troopers will control the entrance points to the square, and an X-Wing fighter will exhibit in the gardens.

The last three episodes will play in digital on the DLP projector. The original three will play with brand new show prints.

That's an awful, awful lot to take in on one day.... but gosh it is tempting with Lucas and key cast and crew being on hand to introduce everything, plus new show prints of the classic trilogy (thank God they've not been converted to DLP). I might consider it, go see star wars, empire, jedi, skip I and II and then go back in for III.... Even four films in one day is obscene, but at least skipping I and II would give me a break. Price wise it's not bad at all given typical peak Leicester Square ticket prices.

I'll probably skip the midnight showing this time. The only reason I go to the midnight showings is to see all the geeks in Jedi robes fighting with the same toy lightsabers my kid has. ;)

I'll be going to the midnight show for the movie and, more importantly, to see what you describe above. ;)

Mostly likely a no for me unless some of my friends here decide to go as well. The asshat factor is too great, as it seems like there's always some white trash baby-mama who couldn't find a sitter who brings her screaming hellspawn to the showing.

Too bad, really, as I enjoy watching the nerds dressed in costumes (I used to go to RHPS in costume, so I shouldn't pick on em too much).
