Romier S
I suppose I'll need to finally go out and pick up Firefly since I've never seen it. The trailer looks quite good.
JoeyN
The DVD set is one of my favorites. It has the right combination of everything and there are some great one liners capt
Graeme
Looking good! I'm glad they didn't change the look much, the larger budget is noticable though. Love Firefly, can't wait for this.
Peter O
Looks great!! I'm a big Firefly fan, can't wait for this one. JFo
Thanks, Odie! I was hoping to get my hands on that Quicktime version. The trailer looks pretty damn good. It looks like they managed to really make the most of their $35 million budget. This thing looks pretty grand in terms of visual effects. Then again, the effects on the show were pretty good, and they no doubt had even less to work with there. Whedon was probably enjoying some of the freedom that a bigger budget could afford. My only disappointment is the absence of Ron Glass, aka Shepard Book. I had heard that one of the characters from the show only appeared briefly in the film, and I had suspected it was him. I do wish he were playing a bigger part in the film. There was a lot of great mystery surrounding the background of that character, and I would have liked to have had some of it revealed in Serenity. JFo
Here is a really long interview with Nathan Fillion and Adam Baldwin, discussing everything from Firefly's cancellation, the feature film, and even Fillion's dream of playing a Firefly game on Xbox. It's a good read and highly recommended for fans of the show.
JFo
It looks like if you live in a select city, you can see Serenity on May 5. http://aintitcoolnews.com/display.cgi?id=20050 Too bad none of those locations is anywhere near here. Whooter
I see Whedon's message makes note of the lack of Book in the trailer. Hopefully that's a good thing...
Graeme
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/hdgallery/serenity.html Hi Res, 1080P version of the trailer... requires Quicktime 7 which is only on Mac right now
rustyjaw
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/hdgallery/serenity.html Hi Res' date=' 1080P version of the trailer... requires Quicktime 7 which is only on Mac right now [/quote'] Not to rub it in, but the 1080p trailer looks spectacular. One interesting side-effect is that all the CG scenes stand out from the 'filmed' scenes because they are grain-free. All this really does, though, is make me yearn for the day that 1080p is standard for HT gear.
kelley
Personally I cannot find where the hype train station on this one is at. But yes at 1080p it is BEAUTIFUL.
Romier S
I finally got around to picking up Firefly on DVD. I've been meaning to do so since I saw the trailer for the film. Having never sat down to watch a single episode before I strapped in for some viewing last night and made it to the middle of disc 2. In all honesty, the show didn't grab hold of me at first. It has a very wierd spaghetti western/sci-fi feel to it that's a bit difficult to get used to. By the time I hit "Bushwhacked" though, I was hooked. That episode has been my favorite so far and I'm finally getting more into what in the hell is happening to River. The Shephard also seems to have some secrets to conceal and all of the characters have really grown on me. Excellent show thus far and I can't wait to get to the end (and subsequently the movie). Also, Kalie is an absolute cutie. I know the typical reaction is to drool all over Inara (who is definitely attractive in her own right), but man when Kalie is biting into that strawberry in the first episode.... :drool . Carlucci
The Sci-Fi channel is going to show all 15 episodes of Firefly starting July 17, when Battlestar Galactica returns. Carlos.

I'm right with you there, buddy. She's a definite hottie. I remember when my friends and I watched the DVD for the first time and there was that moment when they faked Kaylee's death, one of my friend's said, "She can't die. She's too cute." So, does the movie trailer make more sense now?

Romier S
Just finished watching the series a bit ago. Fantastic stuff really. It's a gorram ( ) shame that the show was cancelled before it had time to really spread it's wings. I would have loved to have seen where Whedon and the creative staff would have taken these characters. Who was Shephard Book really? Could Wash and Zoe keep things working in this type of environment with everything stacked against them? Would Mal have finally fessed up and told Inara how he felt and vice versa? Would Kaylee have finally gotten her wish and ended up with Simon? Hell, I coud pose twenty questions about River alone! The final episode "Objects in Space" was so damn good I didn't want it to end. I can't really think of a single episode that I would say was bad or low quality either. Every one of them had a certain charm to it, the writing was wonderful throughout and I cared about everyone on that boat. Consider me a big fan, and I'll be there opening night for Serenity without question. So, does the movie trailer make more sense now? Yep, watching the series definitely helps give the trailer more context. Though, I felt it communicated it's story very well even for those who had not watched the series (like myself). One thing I did notice in the trailer and in the interview posted above was that they plan to actually show the Reavers in the feature films. I really wish they wouldn't. Not having seen them at all in the show really built up a great mythology of how scary they actually are (Bushwhacked is one of my favorite episodes of the series and it's the one that really hooked me). I agree with Fillion in saying I'm much more the "hear it and not see it" type. Hopefully it works well in the film though and I will be keeping an open mind towards it despite my reservations. JoeyN
Firefly is one of many shows that got caught up in the Friday spot and Fox never thought " Every show on friday is failing, lets move them to another day". Dark Angel which had good ratings was cancelled for Firefly. They didnt even give firefly a chance by airing it out of order and didnt even show all the episodes, John doe was stuck in a horrible time slot, Tru Calling was good also took over for the cancelled firefly and was renewed for a 2nd season but after filming six episodes they decided to cancel it for crappy Point Pleasant which lasted only 4 episodes. FOX STICK WITH A SHOW FOR A CHANGE capt
