Mark E
With a small windfall coming my way in the near future, I've decided to get my second system, a GBA SP. It'll be a lot easier for travel than lugging my Cube on flights and it will let me take advantage of link features and such. Anyway, just wanted to know what people's favorite titles on the system are. I've already decided to make sure I get copies of: - Metroid Fusion - Golden Sun, and Lost Age - Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (maybe) - Yoshi's Island - Activision Anthology - Konami's Arcade Classics But I want to know what else people really liked on the system, so fire away! Thanks!
heavy liquid
Hey Pharm, here's a few that I really enjoyed: Castlevania (Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow) Klonoa: Empire of Dreams (fun little platformer, get it while you can-it's already hard to find!) Ninja Five-O (good old-school ninja game from Konami. Shades of Bionic Commando because of his grappling hook!) Advance Wars 1&2 (don't know if you like strategy games, since you're on the fence with Final Fantasy. FWIW, I tried Tactics Ogre, but couldn't get into it. But I like these)
Chris F
I'll recommend any of the SUper Mario Advance titles. I'm currently enjoying the hell out of Mario Advance 3 - Yoshi's Island. THe first two are excellent as well, and Mario Advance 4 - Super Mario Bros. 3 is coming out soon as well.
Mark E
Klonoa: Empire of Dreams That's right, there's a Klonoa title for the GBA! Awesome! I totally forgot, I will be making every effort to find that, thank you for reminding me... Yoshi's Island is already on my list, no question I'll be picking it up. My favorite platformer of all time. SMB3 I probably won't as I have the All-Stars compilation on my SNES and I'm trying to keep myself to games I don't have yet. blackcalx
I would heartily recommend the following (in addition to the aforementioned titles): WarioWare, Inc Mario Kart: Super Circuit Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis (if you enjoy tactical RPGs) I would also second the nomination of Advance Wars. I haven't played AW2 but I thoroughly enjoyed the first.
iainl
Kuru Kuru Kururin is normally seen for a pittance these days, and absolutely rules. It also plays 4-player from a single cart, and is even better that way. While its actually nothing like Monkey Ball, the premise of a maze that needs to be negotiated with superlative control is just the same, and just as infuriating. You're a spinning rod, and need to time your movements so you follow the curve of the tunnel. Just try it, and see what I mean, really. rustyjaw
My faves: Virtua Tennis Namco Museum Pokemon Pinball (rules) Colin McRae 2 Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer I've played WarioWare on a friend's GBA and it's a riot, my next GBA purchase. The Daisy
Everyone else has nailed this topic already. I have a few others in my collection, but they've hit the high notes. Glen

The copy I tried was emulated and it's a lot of fun. If I could grab it cheap it would soon be mine. Excellent recommendation.
Andre F
My favorites so far have been Metroid and WarioWare! Lot's of fun and worth the price of admission...
Solitice
I highly recommend picking up a flash2advance cart and linker Check out the details for them here It?s a bit of an expensive investment but well worth it in the long run. What I use mine for the most is a NES emulator called pocketNES. I can fit well over 200 NES games on my 256Meg cart and play old school until I?m blue in the face, it even lets you upload a multiplayer game like Contra to another GBA ram so you can coop play using just the one cart. Another nice thing is it will let you save a game state so you can keep playing at a later time without having to restart. There is also Vetrex, PC engine/TG16, Sega master system and mame emulators in different stages of development. Hell you can even have fun writing a demo game yourself if you really want to get into it or try the hundreds of demos already out there. I also like that I can load up 4 or 5 of my regular GBA games on the one cart so I can boot to the game I want without having to carry around a bunch of carts. As for where to buy, do a search for it on google and shop around.
Mark E
Sigh, I am happy to cap off this entirely very useful thread with the happy revelation that my windfall dissolved tonight in a whirlwind of unfortunate bills and now I am back to square one for my GameBoy. Thanks to everybody who was good enough to offer me suggestions though. Student life really, really blows.
Sam P
Student life really, really blows. Tell me about it. I have a quick question but didn't want to clog the board with another thread. Can someone confirm the nature of the paint finish on the new black SPs? I'm curious whether it's painted metallic black or simply unpainted plastic.
heavy liquid
That too bad, Mark. Sorry that it's back to square one for you. Can someone confirm the nature of the paint finish on the new black SPs? I'm curious whether it's painted metallic black or simply unpainted plastic. I've got the black Japanese version, but I believe they're the same. It's unpainted plastic with tiny sparkle-fleck-thingies that are more noticable in light. Is there a word for sparkle-fleck-thingies that I can't seem to think of?
