Camp
Very nice. Burnout is perfect for the handheld platform -quick pick-up & play. BTW, I'm not very familiar with 1up.com -are all their previews so poorly written? That article contains about two paragraphs of info on the game hidden in two pages of really dull metaphors. Blech. rustyjaw
Very nice! I see they say it will be playable over WiFi, but is there any indication whether it will be Ad-hoc or infrastructure?

Romier S
After reading some of the details, it looks like this is a compilation pack of some of the best features of all three games. With that said, I hope to god they use the crash modes from Burnout 2 instead of the third game. Scott and I tried playing the crash modes in Burnout 3 online a few times only to be left disappointed with some of the execution over the second game. Still, Criterion best keep the takedowns in the single player portion. I'll be a giddy little freak if I can do a Road Rage race on the go. PoisonJam
Hard to overstate how psyched I am for this release, as Burnout is very near the top of my list of games that I wanted to check out and never got the chance. :tu

Camp
After playing Midnight Club on the PSP I'm concerned about Burnout. Don't get me wrong, Midnight Club is a great game and is essentially the same game on PSP as you can buy on PS2. However, the load time between each race is one minute. I timed it. One of the changes made from the PS2 version of Midnight Club to the PSP version is that the courses seem shorter. So, on average, you race a one minute race and then wait one minute to load the next race. That's not fun. Given a portable system people will be playing on the go. If I were riding a bus to work I'd be really frustrated by the amount of play time I get from Midnight Club. I certainly hope EA does a better time managing load time with Burnout...perhaps they can figure out some way to cache to the memory stick. Darius
I think the load times have a lot to do with the early development. I read on gamespot that the tiger woods game that is currently out has fairly long load times. They stated that the load times on the new one coming out in a few months was already much much faster in the early development version. I think things will improve as they go forward. And maybe EA has figured out something on tiger woods that they can use in burnout.

Orpheus
Been playing this for the last few days and I'm certainly enjoying it. It suffers from some longish load times, but then again, it did on the consoles as well. Being able to play crash mode portably is fantastic, I'm done about 25% of them. I've only played one race so far, and as I've not played any other racing games on the PSP I can't comment really comment to accurately about the controls. Graphically this thing is fantastic considering it's a handheld.

rustyjaw
Been playing the PSP version of this for a couple of weeks and it's really nice. It effectively recreates the console experience on a portable. The use of blooming on headlights and taillights is very effective for seeing traffic that's in your way on the small screen. The only drawback to the game is it's similarity to Burnout 3: Takedown, but I'm thrilled to be able to take such a high-quality game on the road without any significant reduction in gameplay quality. Whooter
The only problem I have is switching back and forth between Legends and Revenge is that you can't check traffic in Legends.

Good thing I haven't bought Revenge yet then. In truth, I see Legends as a way to pass time until Virtua Tennis, because I know once it gets into my PSP it ain't coming out for a long time.
