reeldeal
This is rather embarassing. I threw out my girlfriend's ancient pc the other day...and forgot to take my wireless PCI card out of it first. So I've got the antenna...that's not going to help me much. So how much of a difference would there be between using a usb 2.0 wireless adapter versus a normal PCI card? My router is 802.11b if that makes a difference. I realize the USB adapters are primarily for notebooks, but they're quite a bit cheaper than the PCI ones. Is the price difference justified? any advice would be appreciated, my gf is ready to kill me for running cat5 all over our apartment... thanks mark

JoeyN
bah didnt see this thread till now. I believe the PCI would be faster as the USB connection has a lower through put capt
HoolieMan
I would have though that PCI would be better too..BUT...In reality the USB seems to perform alot better. I think it may have to do with the flexibilty of being able to set it in differnet locations to get the best reception.
Whooter
The speed of the interface between the computer and the wireless card is really kind of irrelevant. You're still gonna be stuck at 11Mbps on the 802.11b network... Right?
