Andy Sheets
Saw this and figured I ought to pass a link along in case anyone's interested: http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/age-of-conan-hyborian-adventures/611365p1.html A single player RPG that opens up into a MMO setting. I'll reserve my Conan nerd observations to merely wondering why there are apparently only going to be three nationalities for players to choose from
Romier S
I'm definitely liking the single player slant on the game. Actually having a good single player adventure that leads into the MMO aspects has the potential to greatly widen the appeal of the genre. More MMO's in general seem to be moving towards a more personal experience with less "massive" and more "story". Conan is a great example, Dungeons and Dragons Online is also looking quite excellent as well. I'll definitely keep an eye out for more information on this one. Thanks Andy. Sparkz
Looks like this game will launch on 5/20. Preorders will get to play 3 days early. If you preorder from Amazon, you get a special bow. Best Buy Preorders give a Rhino Mount, and Gamestop preorders give a Mammoth mount. Anyone have any interest? I preordered the collectors edition from Gamestop yesterday. Orpheus
Preordered from GS as well, but I may want the bow from Amazon. Will multiple preorder keys be applicable to an acount?
Covak
I think FilePlanet subscribers can start getting at "open" beta keys on Monday (April 21). I hope to give the game a try...
Magness
So... early impressions from the beta have been that this games needs alot of work. And yet, it went gold master and will be out in a few weeks now. At 50 GBP and 12 per month for UK I'm not too keen on paying to beta test this further for Funcom (this is already too often the case). Anyone here have any different impressions from the beta? Do you feel its polished enough for release? Are any of you planning on buying it right away?
Starhawk
Some part of Funcom (i believe customer service/tech support) is located across the street from me and I heard they recently hired a bunch of people. Now I see what it was for!

Magness
Welcome to MMORPG development good sir. Would you like to be a paying beta tester soon?:tu Heheheh this is funny in a way and sad as its so damn common now <sigh> Oh well, I'm not so interested in Conan that I will sign up for this one at release. I'm a confessed MMO junkie but, there are too many other fantasy based MMO's that I still play to warrant another one right now - especially when all the early word I'm hearing is so "meh" How bad is that in and of itself?! :eh An MMO junkie (who already loves Funcom too) can pass on this one... Hmmmm
Covak
Sooo... beta impressions... The game sucks. The combat system bores me to tears. Real-time button mashing with combos that are kind of like QTEs. Pfft. The action looks just as silly as in any old point-and-click MMO and making it real-time with button mashing doesn't feel like an improvement to me. There are some nice visuals in places, but overall I actually think it's kind of ugly. The lighting is simply too flat and no good in most places, making it feel worse than WoW despite the big jump in detail. I'd much rather look at WoW or LOTRO. Romier S
So anyone else getting Age of Conan by any chance? I've got a few friends from work urging me to pick it up despite my wanting to hold off. Curious if any LCVG'ers will be getting online?
Dave C
I'm holding off on anymore MMOs. I can't even keep up with LOTRO. However, I am intrested in "The Agency" for the PS3.
Whooter
I'm sure I'll be suckered into it here at some point. Just waiting for the intial crush to die down.
Tonner Cyn
My nephew and my brother have been playing since the early start a few days ago. My nephew liked it more than my brother but then something happened after a patch and it won't run for him. I don't know how hard he tried to get it to work again, but he has decided to pass at this point. My brother should be in for at least the free month I would guess. I plan on using his buddy key to check the game out myself. I have concerns about the speed and stability of my wireless network, and unfortunately there is no way I can get a direct connection to my computer. Romier S
:lol You guys must think I spend all day playing games in front of the comp or something. I really don't. This past weekend I spent a good portion of Saturday and Sunday with my wife and daughter. Once the evening starts winding down and my daughter is set to go to bed, I usually go and start playing games (where do I find the time? Well I went to bed Saturday morning at 5:00am and Sunday morning at nearly 4:00am:)). I'm far from a time management master though. There are times when my wife has to slap me back into reality and tell me I'm spending too much time gaming. There are others when I have to slap back and say I'm not spending ENOUGH time doing so. There's a reason I haven't been on Live alot lately. Between work and family - it's f'ing hard! (though I'm almost done with Crysis so...:lol)
