So what's the deal with the video card, 500Mhz, very fast...but '10Mb' RAM? (and do we take that literally, as in Megabits?)

I wonder if that's a misprint, either that or the architecture is not very PC-like. Maybe it's more like some SGI systems where RAM was shared for the processors and video (I think they called it X-Bar). In this case, the embedded RAM would be for cache maybe.

EDIT: Also, can anyone compare those poly and shader numbers to current top-of-the line video cards?

I think the translation of the magazine article revealed that the pad is slightly smaller than the 'S'? I really took an immediate liking to it when I first saw the image above. I like the silver underside and generally it looks like it's going to be comfortable to hold.

It's a shame there wasn't a shot of the underneath in full detail in the scans, as I?d like to see the trigger buttons and how the black and white buttons have now been implemented into that region of the pad (is that them at the very top of the pad? the two bumps on either side?)

That's what I'm thinking as well, especially from the 512MB "GDDDR3" notation, which is usually for graphics cards.

Also, I think this is a better view of the controller:

I really like it.

The screens are pretty fuzzy, but impressive. The lighting and shadows are great. The middle shot in that last set of 3, the shadow of the guy and the gun on the wall, well done, it doesn't look super-sharp edged, which is quite realistic.

EDIT: Unless it's an artifact of the overall fuzziness of the shots.

I doubt it. Looks more like a soft-shadowing technique than anything else.

I think you're right, because there's enough detail in the shots to show the fine lines of the UI, which means that if the shadow was hard that would show too.

The dual Live services I think will really give the service a major boost. In the translation of the article it is confirmed that "One will be the free-version, otherwise known as Xbox Live Silver. This version will enable you to download new contents for your games, download demos of upcoming games and participate in video chat - all free of charge. On the other hand, it'll require an Xbox Live Gold-pass in order for you to play online the way you currently do. Naturally, there will be exceptions, such as large online-games, where an additional fee - issued by the developer - will be required, or weekends where MS will be making every online service available free of charge.?

There's really no excuse for any broadband enabled 360 owner not to try Live on weekends for free, and enjoy the services like the free video chat which is available seven days a week. As someone who never got into Live on the current generation I'm more than impressed with this new approach. Due to the likelihood I?ll only be able to play friends across the Atlantic on weekends due to the time zone differences being too much to bear on weekdays, I am thrilled it wouldn?t cost me anything to take part on weekends.

Hopefully more launch titles will be announced tonight. That initial list from the magazine is OK but not jaw dropping.

Game Informer reports (about the show tonight):

Also at that same time we'll be taking the wraps off the June 2005 cover of Game Informer Magazine, which will be featuring a previously unannounced Xbox 360 title that will be taking E3 by storm next week. Trust me, you won't want to miss either of these updates.

I know you guys are better at finding the good stuff.

After the show tonight, I'm sure it will be available for download somewhere. Could someone share :tu

I'm excited about the game. If I have to buy a optional HD to play X1 games then bring it on. $100 for that & a video cam? I'm sold.

oh. Thanks.

Time to watch Survivor ;)

Here is an explanation on the 10MB of embedded RAM on the graphics card, the RAM is built onto the core and connected directly to the GPUs pipes, think of it as L1 cache on a CPU. nVidia started doing this with their new GeForce 6200 Turbo Cache, which has about a 3x performance increase over the 6200 without Turbo Cache. You can expect all future GPUs to do something like this.

I'm willing to bet we get more info from that video than we will on that MTV special.
So far the MTV thing is BEYOND FUCKING RETARDED
I don't know what you guys are talking about' date=' I learned a ton about the 360 from that 5 second lightshow and SPECIAL EXCLUSIVE PERFORMANCE BY "THE KILLERS". :P

In the meantime, here's a link to a non-streaming version of the ourcolony video. (31MB)
