Cyberwoo
Calling all racing fans. The other day Covak mentioned something about how it would be cool to have weekly scheduled races in Forza. I was thinking something that follows the following criteria would be fun: *Get up to 8 people to commit to a "season" *To get things started 1 person (order chosen at random) will pick a track/car class combo for the week *Once a track/car class has been posted for the week each person has that week to practice as much as possible up until Sunday afternoon/evening (race day!) *Sunday will be race day. A time will be chosen later once I get everyone commited to doing this and figure out the best time for everyone. *The deadline for choosing subsequent track/car class combos will be Sunday evening/Monday morning (idealy I would get and post this information Sunday after the race for that week has taken place) *If you are unable to attend a race you have 2 options: #1 have someone sub in for you #2 forfit and get no points for that week *In the event that someone has a sit in driver for the race points will be added to the person who was missing just as if they were present and raced. Sorry nobody can be added to the "season" once it starts. Other details will be fleshed out once I get enough people to chime in showing me there is enough interest in getting this off the ground. I know how "successfull" most tournaments are around here. I want people who 1) play this game at least a few times per week, 2) people who have at least 1 competitive car in car classes D - A, and 3) people that want to have some fun! I have an idea who will be interested in this (SamP, Covak, Odie, Merlot, Manic, Wei Bey, and that Cyberwoo guy to name a few). Anyway please post here if you are interested and willing to commit to this "league" for 1 race a week. Lets get it on!
Peter O
In! I'll put my vote in for endurance races that require pitting for fuel and tires (15+ laps). Also, there should be something worked out for restricting the use of driving assists and racing line. There should also be some common understanding for polite driving, but most of the regular crew is good about that
Cyberwoo
Ya I'm not too worried about people using assists and/or reckless driving because as you said most people (especially the ones I mentioned) are legit. That being said I'd like to propose that we enforce that the best line be turned OFF. Since this cannot be monitored we will just use an honor system. Since we will have 1 week to practice each track I dont think anyone will need it anyway. Also I know its common knowledge amongst most people but I'll just make it public knowledge that it is of course ok to use anti lock brakes. It is however frowned upon to use any of the other assists. Edit: Oh ya and I am totally onboard with having 15+ laps so that at least 1 pit stop will be necessary. That was my plan but I forgot to mention it. I'd say 15 laps for the longer tracks that take about 2 minutes to finish 1 lap and 30 laps for the shorter tracks (-1 minute per lap). So it should be noted to set asside about an hour to complete the race. I'm guessing the actual races will avg around 45-50 min in length though. If this is too long for some people then this league probably wont be your cup of tea. Sorry.
Covak
I was thinking we'd actually pick a specific car for each week, not just a class, so we get away from those few cars that dominate each class. I'll put my vote in for endurance races that require pitting for fuel and tires (15+ laps). I'll second that vote. At least one pit stop should be required. I wouldn't mind doing two or three tracks each week (in the one car), either, if we could all find the time (I'd easily commit to a 90 - 120 minute time slot). Cyberwoo
Covak I'm fine with everyone driving the same car provided of course everyone has the car that is chosen for that week. As for the 2 to 3 races per week I dunno. That may be a bit much for some people. I dont want to scare anyone off with that just yet. If we get enough people in here that are hardcore enough to do that then we can work something out. I'd be game for back to back races on Sunday. A good timeframe would be late afternoon/early evening to cater to those on the east coast that gotta be at work the morning after. Poor bastards. merlot
I'm definetly in. Sunday nights would work perfect for me. I'm also game with the long laps and pit stops. [EDIT] Some ideas Rather than pick just a single car or class, why not model similar to the way Forza itself presents races, and thensome? Examples: Lancer vs. Impreza, B class Lightweights Cars with more than 300 HP Vette vs Viper Unmodded Miata Porsche night C class open - no CRX allowed B2 through A3 classes Mid-engine, RWD, A class The game has so many car's that doing it this way will add variety and allow us to buy and drive car's we'd otherwise pass over. We could leave it up to whoever's turn it is to pick... EDIT: Wei Bey is in. He's a total PC noob, so I'm not sure he'll ever find this thread, or even these forums again, so I figured I should say
Peter O
There have been some good ideas thrown out here so far. Like Merlot suggested, it would be fun to add some variety in the choices rather than straight class racing so we could dust off those cars that never get used outside of career-play. Whatever we do, the participants really need to make a commitment to play, I've been in other tournaments here and it seems like in the planning stages everyone is really enthusiastic about doing it, but then when it comes time to play no one shows up. Sam P
Im in. About the assists, I don't really think it's a problem. Traction Control and stability seem to make cars slower, and ABS we all use anyway. As for the racing line, that's pretty much moot because we'll be practising for a week and by then, it'll be ignored even if it's on anyway. I like the idea of class/car restrictions. It'll get us away from the usual CRX/Tommy Kaira racing. Long races I love. 10 laps is a pretty good number, but 15-20 might be even better. Pit strategy will start to come into play. Merlot and I discovered yesterday that the damage indicator also shows tyre wear, as opposed to just tyre temperature. SWEET!

Dan B.
If there's still a spot open, then I'd like to join in. I'd like to have one car chosen as the car to race with, as it would help to keep the races closer, but I'm open to a class restriction or whatever everyone else wants. I'd like to keep it to around an hour or so if possible, definitely less than 2 hours. Sundays are perfect for me.
boogieman
If there's room, I'll play. What time Sunday would the race happen? I'm interested in joining, I'm gonna go ahead and reserve last place for myself, but the timing may be a little off. Seems I need to pick up a few more cars before we start this thing off. However, that's not say if we have an open class night that we can't provide the cars that will be competitve and compare mods and setups. This can help out some of those with less knowledge/time contraints/whatever to be competitive while still having some variety. I do my best to commit to Sunday night (if that is indeed when the choosen races are). Any other night and it gets shacky with me as my "schedule" changes on a whim, except Sunday nights. That's open now that Deadwood is done for the season.
Cyberwoo
Looks like we have our 8 drivers. Cyberwoo Covak Odie SamP Merlot Wei Bey Capt Dan B Apologies to Boogieman. Dan B barely beat you out for that 8th and final spot. Perhaps you can fill in from time to time when needed? If there is a way for more than 8 drivers to be involved in this then I'm all ears. Maybe we can split off into 2 seperate groups of 8 if there is enough interest but for now I'm going to have to start off with the 8 drivers listed. Of course we can always race in non league related events so hit me up if your ever online. Please continue to post in here if you are interested in joining a Forza League so we can continue to gauge interest and think of new ways to fit everyone in down the road. Thanks! So...anyone object to getting this started this Monday? I will draw names at random and post the order in which drivers will choose track/car Sunday evening. So start thinking of the track/car combo you want to race and we will get started on practicing come Monday. Oh and I will be posting information regarding the points and how they are tallied. Will probably use something similar to F1 racing or the like.
JoeyN
Im ready to play anytime. I just need to get some practice in
Peter O
I know I made a big deal about making a commitment, but I'll probably need a sub over the next month or two if the tourney goes on that long. I'm going to be moving soon, and I probably won't have solid Internet access for a while.
Cyberwoo
Boogieman: You interested in filling in for Odie when needed? If so you two will need to work that out. You've definately got first dibs on the spot. Let us know. Thanks.

I've got to play this game for a while to try and get some of the cars they have. I probably wouldn't be any good as a substitute to anybody. At least not yet. Cyberwoo
Hey guys. Lets aim for getting this started next week (after Sunday). In the meantime I have drawn names at random so this is the order of drivers who will choose car/track each week. They are: SamP Dan B Wei Bey Merlot Covak Capt Cyberwoo Odie So it looks like you are up Sammy. Go ahead and post the track and car combination whenever. The deadline for posting it is this Sunday evening and then Monday will be the start of a week long practice session leading up to Sundays big race. if there are any last minute changes or suggestions now is the time to let me know. Thanks. -Mike
Covak
What time we thinkin? 10pm EST would be the latest I'd wanna start, assuming we're keeping it under 60 minutes....
Cyberwoo
I dunno I was thinkin the earliest we could race could be anywhere from 1 or 2pm PST and the latest we could start would be 6pm PST (9pm EST) to make sure we get our race(s) in for people who gotta be up for work in the morning. Please everyone chime in with their preferred time. Personally I'd prefer the early afternoon timeslot say around 2pm PST. I get interupted alot anywhere from 5pm tp 7pm PST for various reasons so thats my reason for wanting an afternoon time. I'm flexable though. If we do have the races closer to 5 or 6pm PST I'll just have to unplug my phone, lock the doors and close the blinds.
merlot
The later the better for me (9 or 10PM EST). Sunday afternoons during the summer aren't made for staying indoors and playing video games. I'd much rather be outside golfing, riding, etc... That said, if it ends up being Sunday afternoon, I won't be able to play (unless it's raining and I have no plans).
