PoisonJam
Some of you may recall that I had problems hooking my PSP up to my PC. I was getting a blue screen of death with a stop code and the message "Page fault in Non-Paged area". I googled the error message and a common culprit was faulty RAM, so I resigned myself to the fact that I got a bum Pro Duo card with the PSP (I am using the included 32MB one) and when I upgraded to a bigger card the problem would go away. Well, I had the brilliant idea to try hooking the PSP up to my work laptop to see if it would crash there and lo and behold it connected no problem. So it's not faulty RAM after all, but something unique to my home computer. A few differences between the two systems: Laptop is running Windows 2000 server and home PC is running WinXP (home) Laptop was not hooked up to the internet when I plugged the PSP in, so there was no chance it auto-downloaded an updated PSP driver or anything Both times I hooked the PSP up to a USB port with the same cable Any idea why I would be able to hook up the PSP to one and not the other? Is it possible that the Pro Duo card is somehow conflicting with the type of RAM I have in my home PC and not my laptop? Or could it be a driver issue? As I said the laptop wasn't hooked up to an internet connection but maybe the standard set of drivers in Windows Server 2000 is more...robust than those in XP? I don't know, I'm frustrated and baffled and grasping at straws, I know...
Camp
I was getting a blue screen of death with a stop code and the message "Page fault in Non-Paged area". As you seem to have figured out, the page fault error is not an error on your PSP it's with your desktop. Just to check to see if your PC's RAM is bad try Memtest http://www.memtest.org. It'll remove that fear one way or the other pretty quickly. Is you XP installation up to date? (patches and updates installed?)
PoisonJam
Thanks, Camp, I'll test my RAM when I get home today. I believe my XP installation is up to date; if anything I am one or two hotfixes behind but nothing major. I double check that as well, and I appreciate the feedback.
