Romier S
I posted news about this in the E3 area, but since we lost the posts there I'll repost the information on it's release which you can read here: http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/action/sonicgemscollection/news_6125270.html Sonic Gems Collection brings several classic games to the GameCube. The compilation includes Sonic CD, Sonic Championship, Sonic R, and six Sonic Game Gear titles. Sega also promises some extra features. No release date was given for the game. Sonic CD finally being included in the collection is great news. The six Game Gear games are also pretty fun. The EVEN BETTER news is that the Japanese version of Gems Collection (which will be releases exclusively on the GC, at least for now) will include even more games apparently. Read and smile: http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/06/16/news_6127667.html It seems that Sonic the Hedgehog fans who purchase the upcoming series compilation will be getting more than what they pay for. According to retail sources in Japan, Sonic Gems Collection will include four games as bonuses: Streets of Rage, Streets of Rage II, Streets of Rage III, and Bonanza Brothers. The four games appeared on the Sega Genesis between 1990 and 1994. There's no word on whether the bonus games will ship with the stateside release, due in August. I won't say no to the full Streets of Rage series included with the collection. (if the games remain in the US release) :tu
Mark E
Ooh, very nice. Hopefully it won't meet the same fate as Comix Zone. Not that I'm still bitter about that one . And I'm equally hopeful it won't require the inane unlocking steps that the freebies on the Sonic Mega Collection did .

Mark E
The Sonic Mega Collection in Japan, like ours, had a bunch of unlockable Sega titles that had nothing to do with Sonic. For some reason I do not know, Comix Zone was on the Japanese version but was taken out before the game came over to North America. So we got no Comix Zone love on our version. Which is a shame, because I really enjoyed that game.

I asked that only because I have Comix Zone on my Xbox version of Sonic Mega Collection. At least I think I do. Let me go check. *EDIT* Yep, it's there. And I'm playing it right now. Chris F
The Cube gets no respect I actually had the Sonic Mega Collection for the 'cube at one point. I remember Comix Zone being in the Japanese version, but I was upset when it wasn't included on the US release. When I got rid of my 'cube I picked up the Xbox version of it. It was just a few weeks ago when I got a savegame for it that unlocked everything that I semi-noticed it was there. I had to boot it up tonight just to be 100% positive. I'm really hoping there will be an Xbox release of this new SOnic collection. I'd love to keep the series going on my Xbox.
Angry the Clown
I asked this in the old E3 thread. Has there been any mention as to whether Gems will include the extra Sonic games the PS2 and Xbox incarnations of Mega Collection received? dogbert
Sonic CD, Sonic Championship, Sonic R, This will be getting bought just for SonicCD & SonicR, as long as they're good ports. I absolutely love SonicR for all its flaws. Everybody Super Sonic Racing!
Angry the Clown
Vectorman & Vectorman 2 in place of Streets of Rage in North America: ...according to a statement issued by SEGA US. "While Streets of Rage will ship with Sonic Gems Collection in other markets, the more mature game does not conform to the E-rating of Sonic the Hedgehog games in North America." http://eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=59901 It also confirms Sonic CD will only carry the rubbish western soundtrack due to licensing issues. In owning the Japanese Mega/Sega CD release when it came out I may just have to import this one from Japan to keep me happy. Daniel
