kelley
Well on the release of his new album, Billy Corgan took out a full page ad in the Chicago Tribune and let it known that the Pumpkins are getting back together. No word yet if its the full line up, rumor has it D'Arcy hasn't touched a bass since she left the band. Strange thing is I've been listening to Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness all week. Here is the ad: http://www.chicagotribune.com/media/acrobat/2005-06/18118271.pdf
HoolieMan
Count me in as excited for this one. A very interesting way to announce it too.

So he's seen the reviews, then? It's got an almighty slagging over here, because the music just doesn't support his vocals at all.
exile
I heard one song(track #2) and I thought I was hearing a better Smashing Pumpkins. I might actually buy this..
secretvampire
I'll believe this when I see it. At least with the full original lineup...I think Darcy went off the deep end some time ago. Jimmy would do it for sure, dunno about James after the public lashing he received. Hm. I think their albums took a steady downward slide from Siamese Dream/MCIS onward, and you are talking to somebody who used to be a MASSIVE SP fan. I've branched out considerably since then. Oh well, at least I can thank SP for indirectly buying my new iPod. I was able to sell two pieces of SP vinyl out of my collection I originally paid like $40 for and got enough for a new 60GB iPod Photo. EnemaEms
Why not do another Zwan album? I still play the shit out of their 1st one. I actually like the new Billy Corgan release. Listened to it a couple of times so far, and there are only a couple of songs I don't really care for. Also, IMHO, Pumpkins went downhill after Mellon Collie. Siamese Dream was by far Pumpkin's best release followed by Gish. I would love to see them get back to that caliber of songwriting. -Dean-
Orpheus
We tried to listen to the new album and got about halfway through it... nothing really to good there if you ask me. The Pumpkins getting back together could be good, but their songwriting really went downhill after Siamese Dream. Still favor Gish, but then again, it's the only album I saw them tour for (and they were the opening band for that show).

For what it's worth, the reviews I read agreed that the one decent track on the album is the final one, so if you only got halfway through it might be worth a go at the rest.
