Battlefield 2 Modern Combat Xbox Live demo in OXM

It's AWESOME. Not as good as Battlefield 2 for PC, but still very good. Graphics are nice, and sounds are great. Problem with the demo is that you're playing on EA servers. The demo will not let you host your own game.

It's different enough from B2 for PC that I'd pick up this or the 360 version easily.

I saw this over at the IGN boards in this thread. It's a feature list for Battlefield: Modern Combat on the Xbox 360:

Thread

* A brand-new game engine brings the battlefield to life with destructible and interactive objects, highly-detailed landscapes and urban environments, cinema-quality audio, and an advanced physics model for true-to-life explosive action.

* Maps scale to the number of players engaging in battle for a unique and intense experience every time.

* Warfare goes high-tech with thermal binoculars, laser-designated bombs, wire-guided missiles, and more.

* Enter the fray as U.S. Marines, Chinese Red Army, or Middle East Coalition troops, each with its own unique arsenal.

* Roar onto the battlefield in advanced, modern machinery including tactical fighters, four-wheel drive assault buggies, and Black Hawk helicopters.

* More than 100 players battle it out online in the largest conflicts on the Internet.

* Fight like hell online to earn medals, ribbons, and unlockable items such as new weapons.

* Rise through the online ranks from lowly private to squad leader or battlefield commander.

* Take charge of the battlefield action and lead your team to victory in the all-new Commander Mode.

This information is taken from a retailer listing though so most of these features are subject to change. You can check Gamestop or EB's pages for the game listing itself. I hope these retail listings are right though. It sounds quite similiar to the retail listing for Battlefield 2 on the PC. The commander mode is a tip off that they may be pulling from that feature list. Though the 100+ players online definitely sounds interesting.

Sounds like a feature that Ghost Recon could really use.

The demo I've been playing non-stop has sold me on this game. I may even double dip depending on when the Xbox and 360 versions are released.

I'd love to play it! Every single time I go to connect to a game I get a "Network connection not valid" error message (and I'm peraphrasing). Every other Live game works for me too. I've been finding a safe haven in Darkwatch which is really moving up my buy list just on the multiplayer demo alone since I'm just loving the weapons in the game.

I have noticed bad connect issues, but for some reason Iv'e been farely lucky and able to play the hell out of it. So much fun. Now that I hear they are going to put out a 360 version and I've heard new word that the 360 will be backwards compatable I think I'll have to get one.

Finally got to play the demo this afternoon (after a few days of drop connections and errors). Holy hell this game is dangerous. Dangerous of making me it's bitch. I played for a good 3 hours during the morning/afternoon and had to force myself off to get ready to go to my nephews. I played the Battlefield 2 demo on the PC and for some reason it didn't appeal to me. I'm not sure why. It just didn't have alot of fun with it for some reason. This was the total opposite for me. The vehicle controls are pretty easy to learn (I'm getting pretty decent at controlling the helicopter now!), and I liked the layout of the map. Now the real decision is whether to pick this up, or wait for the 360 version to hit (and I'm leaning towards the double dip option).

Yes there have been many 2 to 3 o' clock in the morning nights playing the demo. I think the xbox version is going to change when it gets released. For example in the PC version the engineer only has land mines, not land mines and the rocket launcher. The rocket launcher or RPG is carried by the anti-tank trooper in th PC version. That's okay with me, I think they might have condensed the two characters for the demo, or it will stay the way it is. That's okay too.

Agreed. I've just returned to work from vacation but it is hard to concentrate at work. My thoughts are consumed by this game.

I can't recall being this addicted to a game demo before. I've definitely clocked more hours with this demo than most games I've played. The variety of things to control and destroy make this game incredibly fun, even with the unwashed masses.

I will definitely be double dipping.
