Robot Monkey
Okay, this challenge is open to anyone and our self-imposed deadline is December 31, 2005. The idea is for us to reach the total as a group -- so if you don't make your target, pray that someone else lost enough to make up for your shortfall. Or consider chopping off a limb. Let's say that August 1 is the deadline to make changes to your declared target. Okay, here're the participants (so far): 30 Robot Monkey 25 Whooter 20 Chris the Rock 25 Poison Jam 20 gigapower ?? iCamp 30 Wesvans 20 exile 20 cane corso 35 dobgert 20 Carlucci 25 FutureVoid 30 tiac 20 Thrillho 25 Buck 15 Ringwraith 10 Merlot 30 CaptDS9E 25 Pharmboy 20 Orpheus 15 Ryan FB 30 Brandondragons 30 jubjub75 25 Nightwing 25 SeriousCrayon 30 Darius 10 Hank Scorpio 10 AnthonyVolpe ___ 620 lbs. total (so far) I'll update here in the first post as necessary. Carlucci
Ok, put me down for 20 pounds. Between this public commitment and my wife's new cooking regimen, I'm gonna drop the pounds like a clumsy British money-changer. Carlos.
Robot Monkey
Between this public commitment and my wife's new cooking regimen... I'm not sure how I'll do it. I think I'll 1) cut out fried snack foods (like chips) 2) start biking or jogging regularly and 3) reduce portions.

Thrillho
I'm down for 20, 165 lbs would be sweet. hopefully my damn hamstring will heal well enough that I can get out on the road and bike or run. Word of wisdom...Stretch. You really don't ever want to pull a hamstring, the damn things don't heal.
Buck
I was just talking about this same idea with my co-workers. Put me down for 25, Jay.
Robot Monkey
Hmm, looks like we're off. I increased mine to 30. Might as well jump in feet first, you know? Our current total is enough to make a couple new people.

Chris The Rock
Damn...too bad we didn't start this last year as I just dropped 50 pounds since November 1 and am now at my target weight. That's awesome. Any tips? Did you go on any kind of well-known "diet", or did you just your mind to it? Anyway, I'm really looking forward to hearing about everyone's results. The most exciting thing for me will be hearing my wife tell me she's noticing a difference. I think that most of us who have over 20 pounds to lose and who have some bad habits could lose about a pound per week by tweaking just a couple of things. My plan is to keep up the excercise, drink at least a gallon of water per day, and eat smaller portions.
Robot Monkey
A question for people who have lost significant amounts of weight (>20 lbs) and kept it off: What do you reach for when you are really hungry and shouldn't really eat? Do you discipline yourself to go without, or do you hit the celery sticks and stuff?
dogbert
The biggest problem I have right now is crunch. I'm at +3 hours at the moment, which means the only time I have to make the gym is lunch, and it means I'm stuck with a dinner of usually crap (pizza, chiplote, Pei Wei etc are our usual staples). JoeyN
A few years ago during the time LCVG opened, I lost a lot of weight and then gained it back in no time , and been stuck ever since :bh:bh. I did it mostly drinking lots of water, and eating chicken, salad , vegtables and fruit. Also at the time I did Tae-bo. yep the billy blanks thing. It worked. This time ill eat the same way , but im going to do a range of stuff including weight lifting as my brother bought a bench set. I tried starting last month but couldnt get it going. I decided to start this morning, and then i saw this so Lets get it on capt
exile
and it means I'm stuck with a dinner of usually crap (pizza, chiplote, Pei Wei etc are our usual staples). Not necessarily. It's a matter of choice. Noone is stuck with anything. I think that most of us who have over 20 pounds to lose and who have some bad habits could lose about a pound per week by tweaking just a couple of things. My plan is to keep up the excercise, drink at least a gallon of water per day, and eat smaller portions. The best plan I've heard is the following: Exercise 3-4 times a week. Drink Water alot Eat 6 times a day(note smaller portions but spread out) My friend is doing the "Body for LIfe" diet. He said he has changed alot. He gets a free day on it which is Friday but because he has changed his attitude towards the plan, his metabolism has forced him to not eat as much on those free days. I plan to purchase the book. http://www.bodyforlife.com/

exile
The Free Day is also an interesting concept. It doesn't have to be a Sunday. My friends are doing Friday and you can move it around as long as it's 1 free day and not 3 It is the route I'm going to take.
