dogbert
So what's the current best value graphics card for those of us on a budget (~$100)? AGP based, not PCI Express. Quite happy to get better value by going on eBay too.
Starhawk
Im in need of one too. AGP, and less then $100 would be awesome. And i never game on my PC. Ever. Photo and Video editing, well that's another story.
Kitlope
Not sure if new models from ATI/NVidia have come out in the last month or so but the NVidia 6600 is a great budget card, it might be a bit more than $100.00 US though. Dan B.
Yeah, I saw a 6600GT AGP version just a couple days ago for $125 somewhere. I can't remember where though. The plain 6600 should be available for a little less.
Kitlope
I read some benchmarks and its worth the extra bit for the GT model I believe. Heres a decent write up. http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2196
GreenMonkey
6800LE has extra pipes you might be able to unlock... (I never do that unlocking stuff myself). 6600GTs were the best bang/buck but the 6800LE prices have dropped a lot... From fatwallet latest deals: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814122212 discussion here: http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/messageview.php?start=0&catid=18&threadid=504150 If you don't do anything fancy to them, it sounds like the 6800LEs are a bit better with more PQ features turned up (AA/AF). A vanilla 6800 isn't that much more these days and is definitely better than a 6600GT in most situations.
Starhawk
Whoops. I just realized I have a PCIe x 16 Graphics slot, not AGP. Any recommendations?
kelley
Best budget card for either AGP or PCI-Express is the nVidia 6600GT.
GreenMonkey
yup Your only real choice for PCIe is a 6600GT or a 6800 for more $. ATI's budget PCIe offerings kinda suck in comparison (x600 is like a 9600pro IIRC). x700 pro can be found but the 6600GT is better anyway.
