Mega Announcement

Capcom Entertainment announced today their upcoming game collection Mega Man Anniversay Collection. The game, a virtual retrospective of all things Mega Man, will contain Mega Man games spanning the NES, SNES, Game Boy, PlayStation, and arcade systems, and will all be contained on one disc for the PlayStation 2.

?The Mega Man Anniversary Collection pays tribute to the brainchild behind this multimillion unit selling franchise, Keiji Inafune, and the original games that he created,? said Todd Thorson, director of marketing, Capcom Entertainment. ?It gives gamers, who have not experienced the Mega Man phenomenon, an opportunity to play the titles that redefined the platform genre.?

The game will contain the following:

Mega Man 1 through 8

Two never before released in the US games, Mega Man The Power Battle and Mega Man 2 The Power Fighters

Unlockable artwork, producer interviews, TV commercials, anime videos and much more

An updated soundtrack

wow, these retro compilations are getting AWESOME. Put me down for this one. I've only played a couple of the old MegaMan games, but I enjoyed the heck out of them.

Aww, I really hope this comes out for the other two systems. I can see why it wouldn't, but along with Kingdom Hearts this makes two games it would be worth having a PS2 for. Well, and Klonoa 2 of course ;).

I'm a big fan of the later NES MegaMan games, which were really lacking in originality but fun all the same. Hopefully this is chock full o' goodies.

It's about damn time they did this! Good thing I'm getting a PS2 today. Now I'll be able to play all of these. :)

I can't tell you how interested I am to hear this updated soundtrack. I think it's no secret that the Mega Man games feature some of the best music in any videogame ever. A really good version of the Snake Man theme alone would be worth the price of this compliation.

I do have one on my computer. It's techno version too and quite well done. I'd like to hear a non-techno version on this compliation though.

Oh, and yes there was a Gameboy version, can't remember if there is more than one though.

There were indeed multiple GameBoy versions of the Mega Man games. I don't know how many there were in total though. I know that I have Mega Man 2 stashed away somewhere though.

For those of you as eager to get your hands on this compilation as I am, you might want to check out these screenshots. It looks as if Capcom is not messing with perfection by enhancing the visuals of the older games at all. Needless to say, I like that. After seeing how good an old NES game can look on the Zelda Compilation, I'm eager to get see what the amazing graphics of these old Mega Man games will look like. More to the point, I can't wait to hear those old tunes again. They truly are some of the best ever composed for any game.

You can also check out these screenshots of the GameBoy Advance compilation, which looks to visually mimic the old GameBoy versions, only with an added spot of color to make them stand out.
