Romier S
Is anyone planning on tuning for this on Sunday? The trailer is intriguing to say the least and I'm just excited to see them kick off to this 12 episode mini-series. Series debut is this Sunday the 14th at 9:35pm. You can find more info on the series here: CARNIV?LE As well as a trailer for the show here: CARNIV?LE Trailer
Angel P
I haven't seen the trailer yet but did get a preview disc in a EW mag. I always check out anything on HBO.

dogbert
Already got a Tivo season pass set up for it. It's got the Little Man From Another Place in it, of course I'm going to watch it!
Angel P
Just saw the trailer and also added this to my TiVo season pass along with K Street. As if I don't have enough shows on my season pass.
kelley
You gotta fucking love TiVo you know.
Romier S
It's got the Little Man From Another Place in it, of course I'm going to watch it! Exactly! First thing I did when I saw the little guy I looked over to my wife and started saying how good the show would be in Red Lodge speak . Now when will Artisan get Twin Peaks season 2 out already!! General Zot
Any show that casts the Kruger from Highlander as a priest deserves a viewing. Wild show, didn't know what the heck was going on but I liked it.
kelley
what a fantastic show! both my wife and I loved the pilot.
PoisonJam
Dammit, I had every intention of watching this show, but my teething son had other ideas. I got about 10 minutes in and he started flipping out. So I missed the pilot. Luckily, it's HBO, which means it will be rerun approximately 8 billion times this week. PoisonJam
Well I did indeed catch a rerun last night on HBO-HD. Interesting-looking show, and I'll certainly tune in to catch the next episode, but I was a little disappointed that the pilot failed to break any new ground. Laconic stranger with a mysterious ability to heal? Been there (most notably in Green Mile). Tortured priest haunted by visions that he can't understand? Done that. But I did enjoy the show, and I expect that now that the characters have been established, the story can pick up and branch off into new and more original areas. It looked and sounded superb, too, in HD and Dolby Digital. Not quite "Band of Brothers", but close.
exile
So far my answer is "eh". Planning on Tivo'ing it for a few more episodes to check it out. I thought the same way after the first episode of Six Feet Under and watch it religiously now.
dogbert
Well, got round to watching the first episode this morning, and absolutely loved it. Hit all the right buttons for me. Hinted at a nice macrostory. Can't wait for more.
Romier S
I especially loved the flashback sequences to when he first discovered his powers. the kitten drowning scene made me squirm (I love cats). Also enjoyed the "hallucination" sequence with Clancy Brown's character in front of the Chin's. Good stuff.
heavy liquid
Did anyone catch the second episode last night? I'm starting to warm to the show more, not that I didn't enjoy the first episode. I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say that I like the interesting background on Ben's mom. I'm looking forward to seeing where that storyline goes. I'm not sure where the whole Brother Justin Crowe storyline is going, but nothing there has really interested me all that much, yet. kelley
Man this show continues to impress! I thought I would miss Sex and the City, but HBO has come in and put two shows, Carnivale and K Street, in its place that just blow me out of the water. I'm finding Brother Justin's story to be just a riviting as Bens. Especially with the way he has the ability to see peoples sins, and boy wasn't this week's a good one. I really want to know what is the story behind "the Managment".
adamsappel
It took me awhile to get to this in my ReplayTV backlog. I'm always up for a good carny story, especialy one with creepy overtones, and this is a great show thus far. It's good to see a Depression-era Dust Bowl drama where people are appropriately filthy. I hate period pieces where the shirts are white and the necks are clean. For those interested in a good (straight) carny book, try The Man Who Was Not With It by Herbert Gold. PoisonJam
Hmm...for the bast two weeks I've told myself "Okay, this is the week--if it hooks me I'll watch it but if it doesn't do it this week I'm giving up." And for the past two weeks I've thought, "Well it didn't really do it for me, but I'll tune in next week to see what happens". There were some decent moments in last night's episode, but I haven't really been grabbed by anything yet. Still, as with the last two weeks, I'll be back for another helping next Sunday. I do wonder if they are going to the "see a place in a dream early in the show and then mysteriously end up there in real life later" well too often, though. dogbert
Well, I'm still loving it. I love the slow build-up of the story, I love the slow build-up of the characters. I loved how last week's teaser totally threw everyone in the wrong direction about the "healer". Looking forward to the next one. It hits the same buttons for me that Twin Peaks did. Angel P
Is HBO showing their weaknesses this year? An interesting article. And for those who have missed this show, the article states: "Tomorrow, HBO is airing the first three "Carniv?le" episodes consecutively in prime time." Romier S
Well, I'm still loving it. I love the slow build-up of the story, I love the slow build-up of the characters. Agreed. I've admittedly been behind in watching the shows but my wife has been setting them aside for me to catch up on (since Im at work most of the time). She is also a very big fan of the show and she happens to completely dislike Twin Peaks (if that says anything). She has tuned in every Sunday thus far. I watched the first 3 episodes over the course of the last three nights. I had only watched the premier on television and caught parts of the second and third show previously. Father Justin's story thus far has me completely intrigued. Watching tonights episode (and seeing his reaction to the burned children) really just left me clamoring for more.) I also enjoy the dichotomy of his character. On one hand his actions bring about the loss of life but in turn it seems to be for the greater good. So will he or the healer become the creature of darkness or light that Sampson spoke of in the introduction of the first episode? Or perhaps we haven't even been introduced to the true enemy yet? Carnivale is definitely a slow build-up but I have no problem with that as long as the storylines and characters remain this engaging. The continual clues to the shared dream sequences, Sophie and her mother, Ben's and his "uncanny" relation to Scutter and the consequences of using his power etc..etc.. (the sequence in the second episode where Father Justin, Ben, Scutter and the soldier all sit in the diner and the waitress comments "Every prophet in his house" had such a PURE Twin Peaks vibe to it, I loved it!). Its a show that definitely requires the viewer to pay attention and tune in. Nothing wrong with that in my book. My only hope is that they stick with the show and the storyline is completed. dogbert
My only hope is that they stick with the show and the storyline is completed. It will - HBO are very good for letting shows run their course, regardless of viewer ratings. Last night's episode was definitely the slowest paced of the bunch. Still enjoyed it
kelley
Last night both Carnivale and K Street were pretty lame compared to their previous episodes. Next week's Carnivale looks really good though.
