Robot Monkey
Okay focusing on Live play: As to Ghost recon vs. GRIT, since most of us are on GRIT, I think GRIT is a better bet. Now the question is GR/GRIT vs. RTCW. RTCW is fast-paced and arcadey. The medic character class can raise the dead, you can take multiple hits before dying, you can use pretty nutty weapons like a chaingun and a flamethrower. There are a caouple modes of play, including sntahc the docs missions that are pretty popular. GR/GRIT is very slow compared to RTCW, one shot will frequently kill you, and "camping" (but not camping spawn zones) is the norm. The most popular mode seems to be Team Last Man Standing. Other nice games include a game similar to Halo's King of the Hill and a game called Siege wherein one team defends an area and the other team assaults. GR/GRIT can be more of a head game. Both games have a nice set of maps. I like GRIT's variety a little more. Three are immediately unlockable in RTCW. GRIT has more on the way, but it might cost you $10. Teamwork and communication are important in both games. -j
fishepa
You have to have a lot of patience to play Ghost Recon. If you don't mind wandering around for 2 or 3 minutes before killing someone then go with Ghost Recon. However, if you like for fast-paced action go with RTCW. adamsappel
If you want something like Unreal, you'll prefer RTCW. I like GRIT a lot, but I tend to get killed pretty fast and spend more time watching than playing. Still, a reputation as a bullet sponge makes my rare kill that much sweeter. GRIT is the flavor of the month so you'll get the most gameplay out of that title.
Guest Bryan
Maybe a GR:IT rental? Let us know when you get it and we can start up a session!
Robot Monkey
Bryan speaks wisely. These guys are the ones who helped me out when I first started with the original Xbox Ghost Recon, so his suggestion is a good way to get your feet wet. -j
FLYING SE7EN
I'm thinking about renting GR:IT and buying RTCW. Which, will probably lead to me buying GR:IT after my rental expires. I'm currently trying to finish a couple of games before their sequels come out (Deus Ex and Half-Life), and that's getting in the way of my Live time. Not to mention a bit of a sore throat, which inhibits trash talking... I have sent a few of you guys friend invites, and if I rent GR:IT tommorrow, I'll try to get in on a game. Do you guys think I should play around a bit in single player first to get used to the controls and weapons or is the learning curve pretty broad like Unreal? Cheers. J. Chatakinns
Save your money ..... Counter Strike is coming out very soon and will be the Flavor of the Month for awhile. November is just a short time away.
Guest Bryan
Just jump in on Live and shadow one of us for a map or two. We can play each map twice so you get the feel for the layout of each one. IMO, knowing the map is where it's at.
FLYING SE7EN
I rented GRIT tonight, but it didn't come with a manual so I'm looking at some of the online faqs and will play around a bit in single player before I sign on and look for a game. See you later tonight @ ~ 10p.m. est. Cheers. J.
Josh
Picked up GR:IT today, and hope to try it out again later tonight. Played for about an hour earlier and got maybe 5 kills. Kept getting killed by spawn-point campers/cheaters. I look forward to playing with people who don't like to yell "fuuuccckkkkerrrfaaaagss" on their headsets whilst playing. I've run into a few of those types myself... fortunately I have found a lot of good, mature players and have filled my friend's list with them (oh, and some LCVG people are on there too :green: )... It's rare now that I ever play in the general population.

Doesn't even tell you what the controls are; you have to go into the config menu for changing them to get any instructions at all. I 'clicked' a bit more with this at the weekend, and now at least understand what I'm supposed to be doing, though I'm not yet any good at it.
