JoeyN
Its for a few systems so ill put it here. Ive been dying to do a setup where i can talk in a x-box chat while playing socom on x-box. After everyone else doing it last night, i decided to do something today. Was gonna get a switch or something but saw these new Wireless game adapters by linksys. Its a small box with lots of different channels on it (looks like a walkie talkie). Finally finished hooking it up after some problems (helps if you put the correct SSID phrase on it :-)) Works great so far. Connected fast and works in game very well. May pick up another for my x-box so if i move around the house live play is everyewhere. maybe try outside one day capt
Sam P
So this is a wireless router for gaming? You said it was a "game adapter". Can you give more details? I'm interested in getting some sort of wireless connection to my Xbox downstairs (my computers/ modem are on the main floor).
Whooter
It's not a router. It's more of a wireless bridge or access point. You can use it in conjunction with a wireless router to have a wireless internet connection, or you can have multiple game systems, each with their own adapter on the same channel and have wireless system link gaming. I got one today, too, coincidentally, but haven't done more with it than download the new Xbox Live dashboard...
MrJames
Yeah Joey you really missed out last night. It was fun BS'ing with everyone while playing a casual game of Socom.

Robot Monkey
So this is comparable to the D-Link DWL-810? -j
Camp
So this is comparable to the D-Link DWL-810? Yes...except the Linksys will also function as a wireless connection between two Xboxes. If you buy two of these devices you can set them to the same channel and they create a unique network for localized head-to-head play (just like connecting the two consoles via crossover cable). I got mine yesterday...I can't get it working. It sees my Linksys wireless network but the Xbox can't go online. I must have a password or something I forgot about...but I have no way to find out what I'm missing.
JoeyN
camp did you set it up by plugging it into your computer? i found that you need to do it that way. set up the SSID and such, plus set it to auto detect the IP's capt
Camp
Plug it in to the computer? Huh...didn't see that in the CD-ROM instructions. Ok...I'll try that. What is SSID? Connected to my Xbox I can run the set-up software on the CD-ROM and it "sees" the device. I was just assuming I could make the changes wirelessly. JoeyN
If you have a wireless network which uses WEP you need to use your comp to configure it. You plug it into your comp. Put the cd in and do setup. It will detect the device. then you just edit the setting. Type of conn you want, Detect IP auto or notm , the SSID(your wireless routers ID), and your wep key. If you dont have any of that still try using the setup and enter the stuff as you need to capt
