Quicktime/iTunes problem

From a process library, ituneshelper:

iTunesHelper.exe is a process belonging to Itunes MP3 streaming tool by Apple, which allows you to play MP3's. This process speeds up iTunes when it starts, and the program also monitors for connected iPod devices. This is a non-essential process. Disabling or enabling this is down to user preference. link

And ipodservice.exe?

ipodservice.exe is a process belonging to Apple's iTunes peer-to-peer download tool. This is a non-essential process. Disabling or enabling this is down to user preference. link

I installed the latest Quicktime on my XP machine and it came with iTunes.

My problem is that I detest iTunes and have zero intent to use it. Despite this' date=' there are two new processes running: [i']ituneshelper.exe[/i] (4.1MB RAM) and ipodservice.exe (3.4MB RAM).

How do I get rid of these parasites?

Just curious, why no love for Itunes. I love it for my Ipod and for just playing music through my PC.
