Camp
It appears there is some sort of downloadable update I need to get before linking my new 360 to my gamertag. Unfortunately, I'm unable to complete the download due to some vague error. I can only guess Live is just overloaded at the moment. Is anyone else having problems downloading this file? (I'm assuming everyone has to download the same file)

Whooter
Okay, here's a question I haven't been able to find an answer to. My XBL subscription is set to auto-renew on the 28th of November. When I get my Xbox 360 (maybe before, maybe after, the 28th), what does that $49.99 they're going to charge me, buy me? matt
I believe it will simple buy you a year of Gold service. If you can afford it, buy the $70 live kit with the $20 game rebate. It also has an extra headset, 200 market place point and the billiards game included. It's the way I'm going.

kelley
I won't lose my gamertag if I do that, will I? no, basically you'll stop your CC renewal and change to using the prepaid card that comes in the box.
The Daisy
I think I'm going to have to try and call their support to try and get my tag back. My subscription ran out last year and I never re-upped it. Now when I try to get it back, it won't let me. Since my friend got a system already, I might just keep mine now... I'm so weak. Somebody hold me. Glen

The Daisy
I just got off the phone with Xbox support. From that they told me, if your account goes inactive for more than 60 days it becomes deactivated and cannot be activated again. Does that seem odd to anyone else? That's the reason that I can't grab my old Gamer Tag at this point. I guess I'll have to start all over again. Oh, well. Glen
weremichael
Let me start by saying that I camped out for this thing overnight and now both xbox 360 games (Project Gotham Racing 3 and Perfect Dark Zero) that I own freeze within 5 minutes of gameplay. Halo 2 seems to plays just fine. I called Microsoft Tech Support today (really cool guy Steve with a Canadian accent). He had me clear all saves from the hard drive, play a dvd and try a 360 game. It froze on PDZ again. The system gets really loud while trying to play the 360 games. In all the system is louder than the original xbox. I am wondering if the freezing has to due to the 360 getting too hot. It's not due to ventilation as I have even moved it to the middle of the room. I originally had it sitting horizontal and then I tried it vertical. When switching back to horizontal I left PGR 3 spinning and made a nice grooved ring in the disc. I now have to get the disc buffed (luckily I have an expensive buffing machine at my job) and hope that the grooves aren't too deep to fix. So now I am waiting for a "box" from Microsoft, which will arive on Friday or Saturday. I then send it back to them and wait eight days for it to return. This sucks. I guess it is my lot in life with the video game systems. I had the Thompson drive, I have the recalled power supply on my PS2 slim and now this. One night of camping, $600 and I have to wait over a week to play any f*cking games. Sorry for the rant but it has been a rough week for other reasons too. General Zot
Well, mine is loud and hot as well but no freezing. Not even once in the mostly enclosed cabinet I keep it in. So I think those are unrelated factors. Sounds like there is something else inside that is not happy, good luck.

Romier S
In an effort to keep things contained in the console area, I'd like to keep any and all technical issues with the 360 contained to this thread. If it grows in size to the point of being difficult to follow the moderation staff will break it up into parts as we did with the older 360 discussions. Note: I've merged weremichaels 360 freezing thread, along with Camp's original Xbox Live update thread here to start things off with and get the technical ball rolling so to speak. I know technical issues can be heartbreaking after all of the difficulty in getting the console but try to keep a cool head and we'll see if we we can help, or worse case let Microsoft do it's thing and get your system repaired in a timely fashion. Feel free to ask any technical questions including TV resolution problems and more if necessary guys. After the initial launch conversations die down I'll move this over to the "Technical Support" forum for archiving. Thanks guys!
ColdForged
I really wonder whether we may be seeing overheating issues due to the high temperature of the chips and perhaps poorly seated heatsinks or something. Mine has been flawless, but I certainly feel for the people with problems.
weremichael
Capt, I tried the remove the hard drive trick, unplugged and plugged everything multiple times. It sat for a long while and now it just sits. FutureVoid, Sorry I didn't post here to begin with. Michael
