dogbert
So I've been in the US five years & managed to avoid the shops on every Black Friday. However this year, Best Buy has a couple of laptop deals that look very tempting as we've been planning on buying a basic laptop for my wife as her Christmas present... So, knowing they've got "minimum 10 per store" & they open at 5am, what's the tips for this "experience"? How early should I get there to queue up? As this is a front page deal, where are laptops likely to be once I get in-store? Right at the front or by the computers? Should I just stay in bed? Orpheus
As early as possible woudl be my suggestion (like several hours before if not more). Not sure about where in store to go once you're there, I avoid BF shopping whenever possible. A heads up, dell has a really nice notebook deal right now posted on hte frotpage of slickdeals.net. It's a bit more than the BB Toshiba will be, but without the headache. Also, BF2005 has a great collection of all the products available in BF ads for most stores. Also some stores have some of their BF sales online today.
EnemaEms
Brian, My g/f and I go out every year on BF. The Best Buy by me is a store I avoid until after the "doorbuster" sales. If your BB is anything like mine is....plan on getting there at least 60-90 minutes before opening. -Dean-
exile
Get there about 4am if you plan on purchasing that laptop. No rainchecks on those either so when they are gone... they are gone. For those wondering the 24 season sets are ONLINE right now for $20 a piece. I had to pay tax and shipping but I look at it like I paid $5 to not be in best buy and they ship it to me. They also have Chapelle and Seinfield and a few others for $14-$19.
PHiL
I might get there a lil earlier then 4 am .. Where i work at a sporting goods store, I get there at 430. We don't open until 530 and there are huge lines of people just wanting exercise equipment. I will be working black friday from 430am to 6pm so no shopping for me, but for those of you going out, good luck and try not to beat up any line cutters:)
JoeyN
Im working tommorow, but last year i got to BB around 9 just to buy a dvd not on sale and the line was around the inside of the store twice, so i just walked out capt
dogbert
Going to watch for a good Dell deal instead
Orpheus
Check slickdeals.net, there have been a few good dell deals over the last couple of days. We drove past our BB about 30 mintues ago, there were about 20 people camping outside already. It's about 20 degrees outside before windchill and it's horribly windy out. Freaking morons if you ask me. Also there is a workaround to add the Toshiba from BB to your cart online, but it's doubtful they will honor it. If you want to try, go here then click on the prtoect your investment link. Select your state and selct go. You'll get an option to add the computer with a service plan to your cart. Do so then delete the service plan from your cart. Order. Wait for cancellation email.
Bruce B
I went to my Best Buy at 5:00 A.M. this morning to see at least 200 people lined up in 9 degree weather. Got a 30" Insignia HDTV($399.00!) for my stepson ro ready him for his xbox 360.
GreenMonkey
We do the Black Friday thing now. I used to avoid the day like the plague but the wife got me going some years ago when we were dating. This year: went to Walmart at 3am for the cheapass laptop. It's now a 24hr Super EvilMart so no waiting in the cold for us. We're night shifters so that's workin' hours for us. Short story: ended up 15th in line for 15 laptops, and got one. People ignored the managers telling them there were only 15 laptops, we had about 40 people lined up behind us despite the multiple times they came out and told them. Meanwhile the wife grabbed a couple of Walmart DVDs on the sly (from other locations than the guarded DVDs) and went to wait in line at Target at about 5:20a or so while I went into Best Buy (since there was no line to get in the door...yet). I would have passed up on BB considering the crazy lines just to get out of the store, but my wife wanted some seasons of 24 and a few cheapass DVDs. I used $3 McD bucks on all of them. $3 on each and then I grabbed one more DVD to use my last buck .99 DVDs Got the tag for the $399 30" WS CRT but thought twice about it and put it back...I'll put the old 27" CRT up here to compliment the projector instead. $378 laptop is pretty kewl. I need to order a hunk of ram and some external speakers though...
Carlucci
So today is now considered "Cyber Monday" , where online retailers are supposed to be targeting all the online shoppers who return to work today. So, let us know if you happen upon any today-only super deals! Carlos.
Cyberwoo
I'm just glad me and my immediate family aren't into all this gift giving crazyness. I get so sick of all the commercialism this time of the year and how selfish people can get. Some truely crazy stories out of there people literally stomping on others to get the hot deal of the day. People are insane.
JoeyN
I already did all my christmas shopping. DVD's for everyone
exile
I ended up ordering the 24 sets online and I was happy to pay $5 to BB to avoid that place. Meanwhile I was on a plane at 5am and saw the line building at Sams before we left around 4:15. We ended up having to kill time at the big Orlando Mall and the crowds weren't too bad I must say for a mall.
JoeyN
We ended up having to kill time at the big Orlando Mall and the crowds weren't too bad I must say for a mall. Around here the mall is the easiest place to go shopping on Black friday. Everyone is so busy at BB, CC, Walmart, Target and so forth that the mall dosnt have lines anywhere capt
