Oooh' date=' my Animal Crossing order is processing. I can't wait.

Though I'm going to have to; it's a Christmas present. I've got a copy of Mario Kart DS sitting at home all sealed as well. The suspense is starting to get to me.[/quote']

Ouu, that's gotta be rough! I'm gonna go grab Animal Crossing during lunch today and just waiting until after work to play it is going to be painful :)

That little adapter is just for sharing the internet through your PC if you don't have a wireless router.

Or have a router that isn't compatible with the version of 802.11b that the DS is running. My Wireless DSL router didn't work with mine, so I had to get the USB adapter and that's been flawless. The beauty to the USB adapter? Take it with you to work. :)

I was literally hooked to Animal Crossing on the Cube, but I dont know if I'm going to get this version. To me, it simply looks like more of the same, with no real new features.

Maybe I misunderstand how it works, but isn't this version online, as in you can visit other player's towns 'wirelessly' over the net? That was something I was wishing for from the moment I started to play the GC version..

Ed, I think the newest EGM review was probably on my mind when I wrote that. They really downplayed the online feature saying after finally getting the game to connect, you could "text chat, fish together, and steal some fruit, but that's about it."

Im anxious to see what you guys think about it. :)

I hope you can trade items, too, and still have animals move from town to town, like before. That was good times.

I've little time for their level of 'journalism' but according to IGN's review, all the animal neighbours go into their houses when you visit other people's towns. You can only have 4 players in any one town, and only 2 can be in a building at any one time.

They go on to highlight a few specific elements though:

"But even with these limits, the online element opens up a lot of cool elements. Patterns that visitors create can be posted in others' villages, which can then be picked up by other villagers and displayed. Player-created constellations can end up in visited villages. Letters written to neighboring animals will be saved and carried over when these animals leave, which means they could potentially read their letters outloud to other Animal Crossing players. This game is incredibly viral in design, and it becomes even moreso now that players can go online. Animal Crossing players can end up with patterns, constellations, letters and other items from unknown people simply from these elements moving from system to system to system…and that's pretty darn cool. And unlike Mario Kart DS, Animal Crossing's internet support is just as full-featured as the local wireless connectivity - Nintendo did not strip any functionality out of multiplayer to get the game to work online."
